Colin and Penelope's Son Called is what? Does the Golden Name Trend of Bridgerton change?
Penelope and Colin have their newborn kid at the end of Bridgerton season 3; the show never really verifies the baby's name. Actually, the time leap at the conclusion of Bridgerton Season 3 surprised me really greatly. Colin and Penelope arrived at their happily ever after, but a son brought even greater delight. Given Prudence and Philippa produced females, Colin and Penelope's child will even be the Featherington heir. The birth of this new child begs several issues regarding his future development inside the Bridgerton franchise.
The surprise baby of Colin and Penelope is not distant from the Bridgerton books of Julia Quinn. The pair does have a child in the books. Actually, they have more than one. But the way Netflix's Bridgerton treats Colin and Penelope's kids already differs somewhat from Quinn's approach. Furthermore difficult to understand is how much of the book Netflix will change and how much it will delete without knowing the baby's name. Though only time will see which direction the period drama veers in, hopefully Colin and Penelope's children will be named in not too distant future.
Agatha, Colin and Penelope's First Child in the Books, Does Not Fit the Show
Spoilers for Julia Quinn's Bridgerton novels abound in this part. The first baby's gender is the most distinction Bridgerton has made between her books and Julia Quinn's regards Colin and Penelope. Writings by Quinn indicate that Colin and Penelope named Agatha their first child, a girl. Clearly, this is not what happened on television at the conclusion of Bridgerton season three. Presumably, Bridgerton's authors amended this so Penelope's child could inherit Featherington. Penelope and Colin also later on do have boys. But this is the first shift in what might be many about Colin and Penelope's Bridgerton fates.
Penelope names Agatha her daughter in Romancing Mister Bridgerton after Lady Danbury. She does this since Lady Danbury is one of the few individuals who really notice Penelope before her metamorphosis, hence the two develop a very strong relationship during the book. She so looks out for her. Sadly, Netflix's Bridgerton broke this storyline, therefore Agatha's name loses much relevance. This begs the question of whether Bridgerton will retain Agatha's name for Colin and Penelope's future daughter. The two daughters of Colin and Penelope are Agatha and Jane, in the book. But the name Agatha doesn't actually makes any sense without Penelope and Lady Danbury's friendship in background. Thus, the term may be readily substituted with something quite different, just like Penelope and Agatha's friendship was in season three.
Thomas and George are Colin and Penelope's sons in the books.
Spoilers for Julia Quinn's Bridgerton books are included here. Given the infant of Bridgerton Season 3 was not a girl, his name most definitely is not Agatha. After their happily ever after, Julia Quinn grants Colin and Penelope two sons; one of their names might be that of Colin and Penelope's newborn son. Colin and Penelope's sons Thomas and George appear in the Bridgerton books. Unlike Agatha, these names have no particular significance, hence Bridgerton has free license to use them. Still, George is most famously the name of Charlotte's husband and England's monarch, who is indispensible in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
Colin and Penelope's son should not be called Thomas or George overall, unless there is a clear reason why. Should he be assigned one of these names, Netflix's Bridgerton would be more book-accurate—something viewers nearly always value. Moreover, it appears improbable that Colin and Penelope's offspring will be very important for Bridgerton's future regardless. His name is hence of little relevance. He will be too young to feature on the story for the next few seasons. From his birth at the conclusion of season 1, Simon and Daphne's infant Augie has not done anything.
Son May Be Named After Eloise: Colin & Penelope
Although Bridgerton itself doesn't hint at Penelope and Colin's son's name, the actors have offered their two bits. Nicola Coughlan revealed in an Etalk red carpet interview that she had always wanted Penelope and Colin to name their child Elliot if he were a boy. She then says it would be "a nod to their very beloved third wheel," sometimes known as Eloise. Luke Newton, on the other hand, said he would want their child's name to begin with an A in line with the Bridgerton custom.
It's a really lovely idea to name Elliot, Colin and Penelope's son. Penelope and Agatha's romance was pulled out from Bridgerton season 3, but Penelope and Eloise's friendship has stayed at top importance. Pen and Eloise have many ups and downs in season three, but they wind up best friends nevertheless. Coughlan could be onto something when she has Penelope's child honor Eloise. Penelope and Colin's relationship obviously hurts Eloise since she doesn't want to lose her brother or her closest friend, but naming their child after her shows her will never be forgotten.
The Baby Name Colin & Penelope Choose Might Violate the Alphabet Trend in Bridgerton
None of these names would match the charming naming tradition of the Bridgertons—whether they be Colin and Penelope's kid Thomas, George, or Elliot. Among the special features of the Bridgerton family members is the alphabet-based naming of the eight siblings. Anthony is the eldest; Benedict comes second; Colin is the third eldest; so on. Daphne carried on this trend when she called her son August, or Augie. Colin and Penelope might not carry on the Bridgerson name, though. Should Bridgerton stay book-accurate, the trend will be broken. Though adorable, Nicola Coughlan's concept would also break the alphabet chain.
Penelope and Colin's choice of son's name is not even hinted at at this stage. Maybe the third Bridgerton season deliberately made its audience wait for the name of the upcoming show. Perhaps the period play has something rather spectacular and dramatic in mind. For now, though, viewers will just have to keep speculating about the name the show might run with. Colin and Penelope's son should ideally have a name by Bridgerton season 4 whether they follow custom, book authenticity, or something emotive. Then, one never knows what this next Bridgerton generation might produce.
