Could Matt Bomer seize a fresh chance to play Superman in the future?
Bomer has had a broad and successful career even if he might not have portrayed Superman on film. From his amazing time on White Collar to huge events like American Horror Story, Magic Mike, The Normal Heart, along with many other parts, Bomer has shown himself to be an actor with variety. Though James Gunn's DC Universe currently features a Superman, there are various ways Bomer might depict the Man of Steel going forward.
Among the other brands DC Studios is looking at is the Elseworlds idea, which fits Joaquin Phoenix's Joker series and Robert Pattinson's The Batman. Bomer could always play Krypton's last son in an Elseworlds-based property given the several Superman stories found in the DC Comics canon. Once David Corenswet's Superman has been adequately set up and established, DC Studios should definitely investigate this concept in the next years.

Matt Bomer claimed his sexuality caused him to lose his DC trilogy contract for a shelved Superman film. Although DC Comics's presence has been reinterpreted many times in the realm of live-action, Superman is among the few characters to have been most often shown on films. Many stars were near to playing the Man of Steel but, for different reasons, didn't get to in the end as other performers have portrayed Superman in live-action throughout the past few decades.
White Collar star Matt Bomer, who lately discussed his career overall on The Hollywood Reporter's Award Chatter podcast, was one of the players who might have been Superman. Bomer's Superman background was mentioned during the conversation since he had tried out for J.J. Abrams' Superman: Flyby film that never went forward. Bomer said he had first landed the part for a three-picture agreement to portray Superman, but he lost his contract with Warner Bros. after being outed as gay, with the 46-year-old star relating the following narrative:
Roles in Bomer's Past
As he, along with Matthew Zuk, portrayed Larry Trainor/Negative Man in the Doom Patrol and Titans TV programs, Bomer is no stranger to the DC Universe.
Given Matt Bomer's background with Superman, this would also be feasible as he also voiced the character in Superman: Unbound - a job made especially more remarkable. Given this past, hopefully Bomer will get another opportunity in the future to represent Superman in live-action one way or another.
The Costume of Superman
Although Superman boasts one of the most recognizable outfits ever, live-action hasn't always reflected this as successfully as it does in DC Comics.
The new DC Universe seems to be aiming for the ideal harmony for the attire. Though it's not exactly apparent how the new costume will look, viewers seem to appreciate the suit as much as the comic book character is liked.

James Gunn's Response
James Gunn might have confirmed that a big Justice League villain is about to enter the DC Universe. Following the end of the DCEU in 2023, Gunn's DC Universe is now under development, therefore ushering a new age of DC Movies and TV shows. As several movies and shows are under development, it will also bring fresh iterations of some DC canon heroes and villains.
Commenting on a Gunn Instagram picture, a fan pleaded to "please wink if you have plans for Deathstroke, I am waiting for my boy to shine for so long." Gunn responded with a winking emoji shortly later, apparently verifying Slade Wilson's inclusion into the new DC Universe.
