Why Knives Out 3 Has to Bring Back Known Names?
The first two Knives Out films, Knives Out and Glass Onion, have a clever little trick in which their casts differ entirely. They thus feel like a fantastic anthology series, but this is a trick that might not last always. If the franchise wishes to continue, Knives Out 3, Wake Up Dead Man should begin to bring back characters from past movies.
Benoit Blanc Needs a Team Right Now
Benoit Blanc is an excellent investigator, but it's a little ridiculous that he alone answers all these wild riddles. Great detectives like Sherlock Holmes have friends and assistants like Watson, Mrs. Hudson, and Lestrade to assist them. Especially if the series moves past Wake Up Dead Man, Knives Out could feature some recurring characters to highlight its universe and provide Blanc a team to operate with.
Fresh Characters Will Give Benoit Blanc More Complexity
Blanc solves cases in Knives Out, but it doesn't probe his personal life too much. He has a husband, but we know not much else about him. Bringing back characters like Hugh Grant's Phillip or LaKeith Stanfield's Lieutenant Elliott could provide Blanc more complexity and highlight his relationships outside of his employment. This would make him a more complete and fascinating character, something the franchise would gain going forward.
