The New 70s-Style Costume of Moon Knight is a Genius Redesign of His Mr. Knight Persona.
Marvel's Disco Dazzler variant cover series is featuring Moon Knight's alter-ego, Mr. Knight, who has a killer cool new look sporting a 1970s disco suit. The man behind Blood Hunt and Vengeance of the Moon Knight, Marc Spector, has returned in the most recent issues. Still, it's not only his resurrection that generates conversation. He is wearing a new costume inspired by disco.
Dazzler is back with her first solo run since 1981, thus this August get ready for glitter, jumpsuits, and disco balls! Marvel is tying in with the four-part series from writer Jason Loo and artist Rafael Loureiro by releasing 21 variant covers under its Disco Dazzler variant cover set. Though all of the covers are arresting, Mr. Knight's inclusion on Giuseppe Camuncoli's variant cover for Vengeance of the Moon Knight #8 really grabs attention.
Mr. Knight's retro redesign is iconic.
From the dagger collar to the customized fit, Mr. Knight's new look is heavy in 1970s gloss. As well as the character of Mr. Knight, the all-white appearance is appropriate for the era it is copying when calling on disco suits of the time. Moon Knight's elegant alter-ego is well-known for not fighting but for communication. For Mr. Knight, the concept of him seated in a club facing down Khonshu lounging in a VIP booth is both legendary and realistic.
It's noteworthy that the Dazzling Disco variant covers' costumes are improbable to be found in the comics they are depicting. Not reflective of the comics themselves, these light explorations of characters and their aesthetics are here to market for Dazzler's solo run. But Mr. Knight's fresh appearance is so good that, should Mr. Knight resurfaced as Marc Spector has, it could find a place in the comics as a singular artistic choice. Moon Knight has only thus been seen thus far; nothing yet of his character, Mr. Knight.
Mr. Knight's Cover Look Could Indicate His Coming Back
Now with Marc Spector resurrected by Khonshu, the Midnight Mission boasts a leader once more. After his death, Moon Knight vanished from the comics; but, his recent comeback has generated buzz. Celebrating Moon Knight's comeback, the new variant cover tells a single picture story. The reader leaves fascinated as Khonshu triple reflects in the mirrors of the VIP booth, Mr. Knight glaring at him. Khonshu wants something from Moon Knight, and Marc Spector is not pleased about it based on the glaze on his face.
Time will define what this entails for Marc Spector's comeback. Fascinatingly, Marvel choose to channel Mr. Knight rather than Moon Knight personally. Mr. Knight is still a mystery with many unresolved issues attached to his character; many of which were unresolved prior to Moon Knight's passing. Maybe more of Mr. Knight's depth in Marc Spector's mind will come to light, or it will remain a mystery for fans to conjecture over. The triumphant return of Moon Knight is fantastic, and it's good to have the Fist of Vengeance once more shielding the night travelers.
