John Cena's WWE Retirement Most likely creates a bigger DCU Future
Particularly for his part as Peacemaker, John Cena's retirement from Wwe has presented many avenues for his future in the DC Universe. Cena is well-known for turning from wrestling to acting and assuming roles that highlight his skill. He has already shown himself as Peacemaker in the DCEU, and since he is retiring from WWE allows him to concentrate even more on acting.
Cena expressed his love of Wwe in his retirement speech, but he also underlined his wish for a real retirement—that is, he won't be returning to the ring very soon. He is still open to helping out in a different capacity, though, which implies he won't be totally hiding from public view. This implies that, given he is free from WWE's pressures, his acting career will probably take front stage.
Since DCU is one of Cena's main obligations outside of WWE, his retirement gives him more chances to grow in his capacity as Peacemaker. Fans have given Cena great comments and he has shown a great liking for his DC parts. Peacemaker's crossover from the DCEU to the new DCU implies that the new era of the franchise will allow the character more time to grow, so enabling a real DCU future for Cena and Peacemaker.
Cena's WWE Retirement Timing Creates Especially More Promising DCU Future Hopes
With his last tour spanning January to December, Cena declared he will be leaving WWE in 2025. This means his retirement falls around the opening of the new DCU, with the first film, Superman, set to premiere on July 11, 2025. Cena's timing is ideal for him to move into a more prominent role in the DCU so he may concentrate on his acting career free from conflict with his wrestling obligations. Should he have retired a few years later, it would have been more difficult for him to manage both obligations, so possibly restricting his DCU participation.
Why Peacemaker Should Play a More Major Role in the DCU?
Some fans questioned whether Cena would be suited for the superhero genre when he was initially cast as Peacemaker. But his performance in The Suicide Squad proved everyone mistaken. Though Peacemaker was first shown as comic relief, Cena was able to give the character real emotion and comedy, so producing a complex and interesting personality.
Peacemaker returned for his own solo series following apparently death in The Suicide Squad, proving the creators' confidence in the actor and character. Peacemaker let Cena explore the complexity of the character, transforming him from an unlikeable person into a flawed but interesting figure that viewers rooted for.
Peacemaker's move into the DCU seems like a logical next step; expanding his involvement will only help the franchise. With Peacemaker season 2 and the Waller series under development, the DCU seems ready to delve further into the character's narrative, so confirming Cena's place in the Dc Universe.
