A truly amazing fan artist combined two of the most iconic characters of the 90s to create something totally unexpected!
Griff Tannen Meets Ghost Rider
This awesome piece of fan art takes Griff Tannen, the villain from Back to the Future Part II, and merges him with Marvel's Ghost Rider! It’s a cyberpunk-style design created by artist Tom Hoskisson (@tomhoskissonart), which makes a unique combination of two legendary characters and shows how this artist brought them together in a creative, fun way.
A Unique Mashup
Hoskisson’s art perfectly blends the distinctive features of both characters! Griff's signature style is brought in with the most iconic parts of Ghost Rider's design.
- Griff’s futuristic gear is given a hellish makeover, complete with fiery weapons!
- His already intimidating look is even fiercer now with those blazing flames.
- His cyberpunk style has a special mix, with green clothing, a helmet that looks slick, and other cybernetic modifications to give it the awesome Ghost Rider style and feel!
It's also got a distinct 90s vibe throughout the entire piece of art, which totally fits the original aesthetics of both Ghost Rider and Back to the Future, giving it some nostalgia points.
Why It Works
While Griff Tannen and Ghost Rider appear to be vastly different at first glance, when you look at the detail it works out well!
- They both rely on transforming to be powerful!
- They are imposing figures.
- The design does such an impressive job as it emphasizes this in Hoskisson’s work!
Hoskisson gives a thought provoking idea. He’s offering a vision on how the Ghost Rider character could be updated. He also made his design special and even added some of Ghost Rider’s earlier, lesser-known, tech designs. This gave audiences a look into a unique vision. That really focuses on the idea of what the character may become as these artists put their creativity and skill to good use. It is a creative interpretation to make this project stand out.
Ghost Rider Variants
For anyone that’s wondering about how this may actually fit into Marvel’s world, it actually might not be that crazy after all. In the comic book universe alone, there have been at least 35 versions of Ghost Rider, some well known, some not! If anything Hoskisson's Griff Tannen version fits right in!
A New Crossover
While the design is truly innovative. The piece of art is pretty epic!
The artist took something that might be pretty shocking. Merged two classic characters! What makes this stand out more?
- A new Ghost Rider character is designed with a flaming hoverboard!
- A slew of cool cybernetic body parts and equipment are added
- What makes this really fun, this emphasizes the incredible crossovers pop culture creates.
If that isn’t cool enough, fans are wondering if there may be some other fan artists following in Hoskisson’s footsteps!
