In The Boys Season 4, Tilda Swinton lends the voice of Ambrosius, the octopus of The Deep. Hollywood is familiar with Swinton from films including The Ancient One in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, President Coin in The Hunger Games, and the White Witch in The Chronicles of Narnia. The actor also starred in Michael Clayton, Snowpiercer, The French Dispatch, and The Grand Budapest Hotel. Given her rare involvement in television productions, her appearance on The Boys makes her part much more intriguing.
Swinton delivers her A-game to the part even if her involvement in The Boys seems unusual. For Ambrosius, another victim of The Deep on The Boys, viewers will experience With every season, Crawford's character loses appeal; his handling of his Octopus is extremely poor during the three-episode run of Season 4 premiere. Though she has not yet met a death like his previous octopus, Timothy, Ambrosius is under The Deep's protection. And Homelander can find herself in a worse state than Timothy if he finds she still resides in his living quarters.
The Boys has had many of guest appearances and cameos over its first three seasons, but Swinton's could be the biggest one yet for the Amazon series. Though Simon Pegg, Paul Reiser, and Ann Cusack have all starred on The Boys, many of the guest performers are well-known from television. Though they lack the cinematic career or name recognition Swinton has, they are nevertheless esteemed actors. The Boys season 4 cast includes Swinton, which indicates the show is seeking more well-known talent.
This could carry through to Gen V season 2 and The Boys season 5. Actually, as the Amazon initiative expands, more celebrities probably will wish to take part. Swinton's participation is noteworthy since she is an Oscar-winning actress having starred in multiple major films. Given Swinton's experience, it is hardly surprising that her performance as Ambrosius is outstanding even if it spans only a few scenes.
In The Boys season 4, Deep keeps illicit relationships with sea life, but which A-list movie celebrity voices his octopus? Reprising his role as The Deep in The Boys season 4, Chace Crawford's latest appearance has his character intimately entwined with an Octopus—one who viewers of A-list movies would remember. The Deep is The Boys' parodies of Aquaman, and his abnormal connections with aquatic life provide many humor for the Amazon program. Homelander (Antony Starr) advises Deep to get rid of his octopus as his conduct is so horrible, and he has followed his advice at the start of season 4.
The octopus stays in his quarters, nevertheless, while The Deep informs Homelander he no longer has Ambrosius; she is only assigned to the closet rather than the big tank in his room. Over the three-episode debut of The Boys season 4, Deep and Ambrosius talk about their relationship and her living circumstances. And if Ambrosius seems recognizable to viewers, that's so because a well-known movie actress voices her.
Homelander does not want the octopus at Vought Tower, hence the Deep is also endangering Homelander. Should he find The Deep lying to him—or worse, discover the Supe during another scandal—he might exact revenge against Ambrosius. If The Deep loved Homelander, Ambrosius would set her free in The Boys season 4; he deserves not to be on the target of Homelander's fury. Sadly, his character likely won't. He is already a selfish guy, hence his behavior does not point to any near future transformation.
Swinton's portrayal in The Boys season 4 is so sad in part because The Deep is pulling Ambrosius along while not actually loving her. Though the emotional impact is buried in the ridiculousness of The Deep's relationships with sea life, Ambrosius clearly loves the Supe. Given The Deep confines her to a closet and engages in sexual activities outside of their "relationship," this doesn't seem to be reciprocal. He also lies to her constantly and ignores her wants to spend time outside the closet.
