Among the many difficult enemies Marvel's Spider-man 2 presents are Sandman and his sand-based allies. Although these sand people can be defeated with conventional combat strategies, one player found a clever and efficient method to fast eliminate them without even getting close: using fans.
Reddit user Slow_Item_3736 posted a video outlining a basic but successful approach for handling Sand People. Using the web-pull technique and placing Spider-Man close to rooftop fans, players can drive the Sand People to run into the fans and distribute them into benign sand.
Though the game's tutorials don't specifically address this strategy, given the lore and Sandman's background it makes perfect sense. Sandman's sensitivity to air currents has been known from past games and comics. In the first Spider-Man game, Peter's backpack shows a vial of Sandman's sand suggesting he can be contained with a vacuum-like tool. Fans work in the opposite direction, blowing air outward, thus it makes logical sense that Sandman's sand would be scattered.
The fan tactic is not a universal fix for every interaction with Sand People. Effective in rooftop environments, it isn't always relevant in street battles or later in Sandman's psyche where these kinds of environmental components might not be present.
Notwithstanding this constraint, the Sand People's creators at Insomniac Games have deftly included a special weakness. It reveals their commitment to building a realistic and detailed game environment, so arming players with a secret tactic for personal discovery. This gives gameplay more complexity and motivates players—especially in next playthroughs—to investigate several strategies.
The much awaited follow-up to the well praised Marvel's Spider-Man and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is Marvel's Spider-man 2. It represents the third self-contained Marvel video game universe installment from Insomniac Games. The game's exciting narrative follows Peter and Miles teaming up to take on fresh and returning enemies—including the legendary Venom.
