Two Box Office Inside Out
Previously held by The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Inside Out 2, the much awaited follow-up to the Academy Award-winning Pixar film, has smashed a major box office record. This achievement came in just 13 months following the Mario film's release. Popular adaptation of the venerable video game series, the Super Mario Bros. Movie had an amazing success, surpassing $1 billion in global sales. But the premiere of Inside Out 2 has produced an animated film box office new champion.

Since its June 2024 premiere, Inside Out 2's box office performance has been shockingly strong. The movie, which tracks the ongoing exploits of the emotions living in teenage Riley's brain, has become quite well-known. Inside Out 2 has earned over $1.361 billion worldwide as of Tuesday, the fifth week it is showing in theaters. This exceeds The Super Mario Bros. Movie's overall worldwide box office receipts, ranking Inside Out 2 second highest among all time animated films, behind only Frozen Ii, which brought in $1.45 billion.
Inside Out 2 Prospect to Rank No. 1 Animated Film

It would need an extra $17 million push to take first place.

Getting this push could depend on the critical reception of the movie and its capacity to draw a larger audience. Comparatively to The Super Mario Bros.
