Apart from enhancing the general presentation, the second episode of My Deer Friend Nokotan effectively carried on the comedy set in the first episode. There is much to get excited about with the release of episode #3. The second episode demonstrated the depth of the anime and its worth should this quality of writing and presentation carry into episode #3 and beyond.
Second episode of My Deer Friend Nokotan: A duel of embarrassment
Torako going to the Deer Club started My Deer Friend Nokotan episode #2, "Deer Meets Darkness Girl," much to the narrator's dismay. Torako delighted in how she had adorned the club to transform it into her personal hangout. She discovered the club damaged when she got there, though, and Nokotan claimed it was the work of someone attempting her murder.
Torako's younger sister Anko Koshi turned out to be the offender; she was clearly obsessed with her. Anko thought Nokotan was seeking to kill her and steal Torako from her. Rather than attempt to dispel the misunderstanding, Nokotan challenged Anko to a duel. The stakes were high; if Anko won, she would have the right to deport Nokotan to Nara Park; if she lost, Nokotan would have lifetime supply of senbei.
The duel turned out as a quiz show with embarrassing questions about Torako. Anko grew bored with the duel and tried to kill Nokotan with a rain of kunai, but Nokotan was unexpectedly able to avoid them all. She died finally, but she saved Torako from a stray kunai. But the Deer God physically kicked Nokotan from Deer Heaven and revived her. The incident made Anko friends with Nokotan instead of renouncing her hate of her. Torako, though, still lacked understanding of what was happening.

Newest Character of My Deer Friend Nokotan: Anko Koshi
My Deer Friend Nokotan episode #2 mostly centered Anko Koshi, who also helped introduce her to the show. Her extreme fixation on Torako and animosity of Nokotan produced a lot of visual and verbal comedy. Excellent voice acting by Rui Tanabe fully sold her character from start to finish. Anko will probably remain a great source of comedy for the anime even if her dislike of Nokotan is no more relevant. Observing her character grow and her interactions with the other characters will be fascinating.
Second episode of My Deer Friend Nokotan: An Improvement on All Fronts
My Deer Friend Nokotan was off to a great start, and episode #2 enhanced upon the first. Throughout the episode, the animation and visuals were still first-rate, and Anko's inclusion on the cast gave more comedy chances. As Anko added more interaction between the characters, the dynamic between Nokotan and Torako changed. This probably will last all through the summer 2024 anime season.
Technical aspects of the anime also improved. Discourse on the poor quality of the My Deer Friend Nokotan episode #1 translation was rather active. Fortunately, the subtitles in second episode showed a notable improvement. Apart from the far more accurate translation, there were no obvious grammatical mistakes or formatting problems. This resolved a main problem preventing the anime from reaching its potential and increases its likelihood of being a big hit for the season.
My Deer Friend Nokotan: A Funny and Warm Series
High school student Torako with a criminal past keeps a perfect front until Nokotan, a transfer student with antlers, moves into her life. The ability of Nokotan to detect secrets disturbs Torako's world and causes funny and touching events as they negotiate high school together. My Deer Friend Nokotan is a great choice if you want a lighthearted and enjoyable anime. Make sure you catch the newly aired episode!
