Crack the Code! Hints and Answers for the NYT Connections puzzle (October 26th, #503)
NYT Connections: A Word Puzzle That'll Make You Think!
The New York Times Connections puzzle is a daily brain teaser, challenging players to link words. It's free and massively popular; those puzzles are presented daily. And it involves a sixteen-word grid. You group them into four sets of four words, uncovering links and categories.
Sounds simple, but things can get tricky! Each group has its theme. You get hints within the puzzle, sometimes explicitly. The clues could refer to a specific subject matter which would contain specific characteristics only fitting that one grouping; or in other cases, you must look much deeper into the meanings behind those words, to try to discover similar characteristics not obvious in a quick glance. The clues might not necessarily be in the text or even words included in the puzzle but only hinted at. Some wordplay or hidden meanings even require specialized knowledge from multiple other fields. There’s only ONE correct solution! Each set is colour coded – making each group identifiable! Those groups also progress from relatively straightforward; gradually progressing into tougher ones; and those trickiest ones always involve complex wordplay or require specific knowledge that might need other things or specialized knowledge which aren’t generally present in other games.
Incorrect guesses cost a "life," with only four attempts before "game over"! Social media’s a great place to share puzzles. Want unlimited games and past puzzles? You’ll need to have an NYT All Access or Games subscription!
