Hold on tight, FNAF fans! It looks like a new game is on its way. Steel Wool Studios (the peeps who made Security Breach) have just dropped a teaser trailer for "Secret of the Mimic," a game set to release in 2024. And I have a feeling we are about to dive deep into FNAF history!
The Mimic? Remember those scary AF animatronics in the Ruin DLC from "Security Breach"? And those creepy circus costumes we saw hanging around? It turns out that those guys are tied to a super creepy event, a carnival-esque tradition called "Fall Fest"!
The FNAF Timeline Is Getting More Complicated!
We've been slowly piecing together the FNAF timeline over the years with games and the "Tales from the Pizzaplex" books, and "Secret of the Mimic" is about to flip the script. In the new game's teaser, you get a brief glimpse of 1979, the year of the game, as part of a super cool retro-vibe in the video. If this really happens, this game will take us back even further than "FNAF 4", a game that was set mostly in 1983, the year Fredbear & Friends came on the scene. Remember Fredbear's Family Diner? Yeah, this is how it all began.
So, before Fredbear & Friends, there's something else brewing… a time before even Freddy Fazbear's Pizza came about, which kinda throws off what we already know, but it also means lots of opportunities to dive into new characters and hidden clues! Imagine those cool old posters you see in "Security Breach"? They hint at all kinds of things – like Fredbear's singing show and, of course, Fall Fest! That's going to be one crazy chapter in the Lore that has yet to be revealed!
The Fall Fest's Role in the FNAF Lore: A Crazy Carnival of Mystery
This Fall Fest isn't just any event – it's been tied to a whole lot of the FNAF Lore in different games. Think "Curse of Dreadbear," the scary little Halloween event. In "Help Wanted 2", we even got a clue that there's a poster for a 1970 Fall Fest! So, for real, this event was the BIG DEAL for the Fazbear gang – like a yearly tradition of some pretty spooky happenings.
Those costumes in the Mimic's lair? They look like they came straight from the circus! Could this mean "Secret of the Mimic" will show us the connection between the Mimic, Fall Fest, and Fredbear? Or maybe it was a circus event first, before Fredbear’s Family Diner. That means there could be a whole bunch of new lore about how Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza got started, what characters showed up first, and all those wild and eerie adventures we've yet to see.

The FNAF fandom is a HUGE force, and all these theories and speculations about "Secret of the Mimic" are a huge part of the fun, It looks like "Secret of the Mimic" will dig deep into some untold origins, adding to the franchise, the universe of games, characters, and creepy mysteries, and we're about to get some new lore! You gotta appreciate how much mystery surrounds these games.
There's so much in this world, even if the events in the FNAF games can be difficult to sort out in chronological order, we're excited for Steel Wool to bring it all together and show us exactly how Freddy, the Mimic, and even those carnival shenanigans started to take over those early pizza nights.
