Starfield's June update added some cool new features, including the Trackers Alliance, a faction that lets you hunt bounties. Before the update, the Trackers Alliance was a pretty basic faction, but now it's got an HQ and even a quest line. The most useful thing they added, though, is Bounty Scanning. You can now scan NPCs in settlements to see if they're wanted criminals.
When you scan someone, you'll see if they're a bounty target by their red outline. This allows you to easily identify them and go after them for a reward. It's a great way to make some extra credits, but also to level up your Persuasion Skill.
When you find a bounty target, you have a few options. You can shoot them, capture them, or try to persuade them to surrender. This last option is the key to Leveling Up your Persuasion Skill. Talking to a bounty target will give you several dialogue options, including the chance to persuade them to come quietly.
Each time you successfully persuade a bounty target, you'll get a Persuasion check. This means you can grind your Persuasion skill by hunting down bounties and talking them into surrendering. Even if you fail to persuade them, you can still capture or kill them, so you're not losing out on anything. The best part? You can find bounty targets in busy settlements like New Atlantis and Akila City.
Before the Trackers Alliance update, Leveling Up your Persuasion skill was a real pain. You needed to successfully complete 3, 5, and then 10 Persuasion checks to reach the maximum rank. And finding those checks was tricky, as they usually only appear in quest dialogue.
This meant that you had to play through a lot of quests to level up Persuasion. If you wanted to grind it out, you had to keep replaying quests. The Trackers Alliance changes this completely, allowing you to use a new, more organic method of leveling up Persuasion.
The Bounty Scanning system is a perfect way to level up your Persuasion skill in a natural way. It's part of the core gameplay loop of exploring the galaxy, hunting bounties, and returning to settlements. You can even combine it with the Bounty Hunter background for an extra challenge.
