Ambitious conversion mod Fallout London for Fallout 4 will transport players to an apocalyptic London, England, including fresh quests, factions, and characters. Designed by Team FOLON, this mod has attracted great enthusiasm for its scope and depth since it promises a unique interpretation of the Fallout universe. Given Bethesda's present emphasis on American settings, it's been hailed as the closest fans could get to a new Fallout game set outside the US. Fallout London Mod Release Date
The team behind Fallout London, Team Folon, had scheduled October 2023 release of the mod. Unfortunately, Bethesda's "next-gen" update for Fallout 4 arrived just two days before Fallout London's planned release, so delaying the release indefinitely. This made Team FOLON stop the release to guarantee stability and fit with the revised game version.
Next-generation Fallout 4 update impact
Fallout London's development and release were much influenced by Bethesda's next-generation update for Fallout 4. Along with performance enhancements and graphic improvements, the update brought along a fresh game version. Fallout London, first intended for the earlier Fallout 4 version, thus became incompatible. This compelled Team Folon to delay the launch and focus on making sure the modified game is functionally sound.
Fallen London Mod Compatibility
Limited access for players at launch stemming from the compatibility problem with the "next-gen" Fallout 4 update has caused Initially at least, Fallout London will not be playable with copies of Fallout 4 bought from the Epic Games Store. This is a result of the absence of update rollback mechanisms in the Epic Games Store, which are required for Fallout London with the Fallout 4 version the mod was built for. Compatibility of Gog.com
The PC store Gog.com, which will be carrying Fallout London, has confirmed that the mod will be playable with copies of Fallout 4 bought via GOG.com. A rollback feature on GOG.com will let users downgrade their game to the Fallout London compatible version. Players who own Fallout 4 via GOG.com will be able to play the mod without any more action required. To access the mod, they will have to downgrading to the pre-next-gen version though.
Compatibility of Steam
According to Team FOLON, they are developing a downgrading mechanism for Steam Fallout 4 owners right now. This utility will let them revert their game to the Fallout London compatible version. Though its availability is unknown, this tool should give Steam players access to Fallout London.
