The Acolyte Jedi & Obscure Star Wars Species Expained by Dafne Keen
Just released and featuring Dafne Keen as a fresh Jedi character, the Star Wars trailer for The Acolyte But who is Jecki Lon and what distinguishes her so especially?
Jecki Lon: The Unique Lineage Jedi Padawan
The Acolyte presents Dafne Keen as Jecki Lon, the Jedi Padawan of Master Sol Lee Jung-jae. Set at the close of the High Republic Era, one century before the events of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, The Acolyte reveals the Jedi Order at its height. But as the Jedi will shortly discover, the brightest light throws the darkest shadows.
At four years of tender age, Jecki Lon was enlisted into the Jedi Order. Dafne Keen, who grew up in the Order, has told Jecki she still remembers the trauma of being apart from her family. Seeking to develop the maturity and peace she links with her Master, Jecki seems to hero-worship Master Sol.
Jar'Kai Skills of Jecki Lon: An uncommon and effective fighting style
Jecki has been seen practicing lightsaber forms, thus she seems to take her Jedi training seriously. Dafne Keen said of Jecki, "pretty cool, pretty badass, [and] she gets to play with lightsabers" - interesting language since it indicates Jecki is among the few Jedi to use two lightsabers.
We call this unusual fighting style Jar'Kai. A difficult fighting style, Jar'Kai requires extraordinary coordination and ability. Jecki's command of Jar'Kai gave her a major fighting edge.
Theelins: A Star Wars Universe Rare Species
A thelein is what? Character species and star wars history of Dafne Keen
Usually lavender, white, bronze, silver, or green, Jecki Lon is a Theelin-human hybrid whose skin tones clearly define her race from rare occurrence in Star Wars. Theelins also have hooves, head horns, spotty skin, and brilliantly vivid hair.
In Legends canon, genetic mutations once meant Theelins would be extinct. To survive, they crossed with other races. The Acolyte is honoring this detail; Jecki is a hybrid. A monument to the species' tenacity are the hernia/human hybrids.
The Acolyte's Inspiration: Theine Ancestry
Showrunner Leslye Headland says her dream was to create a Theelin character. Headland took cues from the Rystáll Sant character in Return of the Jedi. Singer and dancer Rystáll of the Max Rebo Band had brilliant orange hair. For Theelins, who were often gifted in the arts, her line of work was not unusual.
Theelins' distinctive qualities and history captivated Headland, and she saw a chance to highlight them on The Acolyte. Theelin-human hybrid legacy of Jecki Lon gives her character complexity and mystery.
The fate of Jecki Lon is tragic end on Khofar.
Learning of Mae Aniseya's plot to kill four Jedi, the Jedi Order dispatched Master Sol and seven other Jedi to Khofar to guard one of Mae's targets, Wookiee Jedi Master Kelnacca. Along with Osha Aniseya and Yord Fandar, Jecki Lon joined her Master Sol on this assignment.
The Jedi were supposed to have arrested Mae and returned her to Coruscant to face trial, so Khofar's objective seemed simple: Events on Khofar, however, took a considerably darker and more complicated turn.
The deadly attack of the Stranger: triumph of a Sith Lord
The Sith Lord Qimir, sometimes known as the Stranger, had already killed Kelnacca when the Jedi came upon him. The Stranger next targeted the Jedi. Though outnumbered, the Stranger had skills that let him massacre the Jedi including a trick lightsaber that could split in two smaller blades and a cortosis helmet that could turn off lightsabers.
In The Acolyte episode 5, the Stranger killed Jecki Lon with the trick lightsaber.
The valiant fight of Jecki Lon: a last stand against the darkness
Though her death was terrible, Jecki Lon did not die without struggle. Jecki grabbed the chance to fight and arrest Mae during the first conflict while the Stranger was attacking other Jedi. Mae resisted the Sith Lord even though the Stranger finally freed her and attacked Jecki. Holding off the Stranger long enough to regroup with Sol, Jecki combined her own lightsaber with Kelnatta's. During the fight on Khofar, Jecki demonstrated extraordinary lightsaber ability; she was finally defeated only by the Stranger's trickery.
