Larger Than Life in Every Way: Garfield
Garfield's creator, Jim Davis, has also often talked about the show. From elements of its production to its main popularity, the cartoonist has offered many analysis of his hit comic character. Jim Davis talks in his Mental Floss interview about specifics of his creation of the strip, long-forgotten elements of the series, and even one amazing accomplishment that was totally disregarded and eclipsed by a big theme park mascot. Among other Guinness World Records it has held is the most often syndicated comic strip. Still, it should have had another according to its author. Davis adds:
'In the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, they had released that Shamu the Whale with almost 18,000 cubic feet was their largest Balloon ever, by amount of gas,' Davis adds. As it happens, the Garfield Balloon had 18,907 cubic feet of helium. We thus verified that, by amount of gas, the Garfield balloon was indeed the biggest one.
Garfield's measured size is volume above other size components.

Popular comic character Garfield is much appreciated and his appeal is rising with time. Comic strips are a norm, hence it is not surprising that depictions of him would be as big as his appetite. Garfield most certainly missed out on a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Record for his first balloon at the time it was flying, though, as Macy's Thanksgiving Day balloons are mostly measured in height, length, and width and other balloons are now larger in volume.
Jim Davis claims that Garfield's Thanksgiving Day Balloon was cheatered out of an amazing record.
Among the most well-known comic strips and characters, Garfield is renowned for his great appetite and the funny suffering his human friend Jon goes through. Ever since his introduction forty-eight years ago, the titular cat has been quite successful. Along with a massive parade balloon—though it hasn't been seen in more over ten years—this has featured retail partnerships, animated shows, and an impending animated feature film.
In 2018, Jim Davis revealed twenty different bits of facts regarding his famous work, Garfield, and related subjects in an interview with Mental Floss. This also covered the dimensions of the Garfield balloon, which has flown a few times in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Garfield designed two separate balloons. While the second flown from 2003 to 2006, the first is the one in issue for records. The balloon using the most helium was the first one last flown in 1999 and used almost 19,000 cubic feet of it. The debut of another balloon would surpass this mark in 1998. Originally released in 1986, the Baby Shamu balloon was noticeably taller than Garfield's but used less helium, so it weighed less.
