The Sweet Tooth Show's Prospect
Though season three is expected to be Sweet Tooth's last, show creator Jim Mickle presents an intriguing view of its future. Created by Netflix, the coming-of- age series is set in a post-apocalyptic future where hybrid children between humans and animals try to live. Mickle created the show, which stars Nonsa Anozie, Christian Convery, Adeel Akhtar, Stefania LaVie Owen, James Brolin, Naledia Murray, and Aliza Vellani among others.
Mickle teases Sweet Tooth's Future following its last season in a one-on- one with Screen Rant. Though "it would be a very different turn" from the present state of Sweet Tooth while yet being faithful to the fantasy world of the program, there have been discussions of further Sweet Tooth material according to the creator. Mickle said if these extra Sweet Tooth seasons come to pass will depend on "whether the fans want it" and "whether Netflix wants it."
Should Sweet Tooth Continue?
Sweet Tooth draws on Jeff Lemire's DC comic book series. Originally running only 46 issues, the comics series was limited-run. Already extending the universe from the comics, the Netflix version of Sweet Tooth has adopted elements from the comic series but has not quite followed its content. Given Sweet Tooth has already followed multiple different pathways, this fact makes it possible for them to keep loyal to the show while yet expanding its universe.
Over its three seasons so far, Sweet Tooth has kept good ratings. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series boasts an amazing 94% overall among critics. On the critic aggregation site, the first season has a certified fresh 97%; Sweet Tooth Season 3 thus far has a perfect 100% with 11 critic reviews and a 79% fan rating. Though season 3 is meant to be Sweet Tooth's final, the good reception for the show points to the possibility of supporting another season.
More Sweet Tooth Content Possibility
Yes, we have discussed ideas, and absolutely have some of what that would look like. That would be a very different turn of events from what Jeff relates, but I think would fit quite nicely in Jeff's universe and the stories he shares and how we have presented them. I have therefore had those thoughts in the past; hence, it truly depends on whether the viewers want it, whether Netflix wants it, and what TV becomes as we move ahead. I sort of always find myself saying, "Yes, there's something there if we want to go forward, but it's also in a really beautiful place where we landed it." I'm thus content any way.
Mickle appears sure in Sweet Tooth's growth possibilities, but there are various reasons why the series should finish now. First of all, the show centers on a young adult narrative whereby protagonist Gus begins his journey as a nine-year-old. Carrying a lot of the acting duties in the series, the child performers are aging and will shortly be leaving their roles on the Netflix show. Without them, Sweet Tooth would be difficult to envision; with a well-concluded third season, it would make more logical to keep the show as is.
The Realm of Sweet Tooth
Sweet Tooth is set in the not too distant Future, post-apocalyptic United States following a catastrophic viral epidemic, based on the same-named comic series. Some children started to be born with human and animal hybrid traits once the plague wiped off the world's population. Many individuals fearing the hybrids believe they are the source of the sickness. After his father dies, a young deer hybrid called Gus (Christian Convery) sets out to locate his mother using Tommy Jeppard, a loner and traveler.
The emotional narratives in the show are what appeal most. Viewers related to its heartbreaking events.
