Fans of Matt Groening’s universe just received a huge revelation regarding the way that the creators connected The Simpsons, Futurama, and Disenchantment together!.
A Shared Universe Or A Multiverse?
While there were some clues suggesting that all these great animated shows are in the same universe, that’s not necessarily what really is happening. There is even some comedic relief and weird moments, for anyone paying close attention!
It looks like those at Futurama, who are behind the series, have really done something spectacular!
The newest season is streaming on Hulu, and at the end of the latest episode, we are given the opportunity to reimagine how all the characters relate to one another. It looks like they really brought back these shows to life!
The Ending Of The Latest Season
The episode that gave viewers a major dose of exciting revelation and wonder is the tenth episode! A fantastic finish for fans to the show and really makes you wonder about how everything fits together! What's super cool is this incredible animated series also has some really notable moments. The first, the ship gets totally wrecked - the iconic Planet Express ship. Fans won’t miss this and while the team must put it into its final resting place (buried at sea) they also realize there is an enormous “multiverse” around.
This is a truly awesome way for them to celebrate a universe full of great adventure. This is what brings everything to light for fans to enjoy!
The Connection with Disenchantment:
Fans who haven't watched "Disenchantment, it seems they've all been a bit confused. They really wanted some clarity! It looks like the new Futurama has delivered some definitive answers.
For a long period, the series even seemed to imply that "Disenchantment" actually happened between the great shows "The Simpsons" and "Futurama."
But what we were really waiting for, "Futurama" gave us something unique!
- The writers made it really obvious, with a quick shot of "Dreamland Castle"
- In fact, it is part of the show's credits, meaning those watching will know that there’s no denying this epic castle is "Disenchantment's" famous setting and what this means:
- "Disenchantment," actually does exist, and is just a different version! There is a real multiverse that's taking place in "Futurama.", where we are going to see other iterations and alternate timelines that show how different everything could be.
The Simpsons Mystery:
That’s a lot to unpack, so to take things a bit further, what's so interesting about "Futurama" is the connections between its characters! For example, the shows "The Simpsons" and "Futurama.", as it seems, have already shown they exist within the same time periods and with the release of the cross over episode, "Simpsorama. " The incredible "Planet Express" crew even traveled back in time to meet the members of "The Simpsons." However, it seems, the show really complicates itself as the story is a bit more detailed.
There was a big problem as "Futurama" made another point, as its writers pointed out that in-universe, "The Simpsons" is actually a TV show that was created by Matt Groening!, making things complicated as to which one is real or whether this story exists outside or inside of the story itself.
Fans have had some difficulty putting this all together, but this also caused an even bigger issue. The characters that show up, don’t seem to have any memories of Bart Simpson which seemed a lot like "Simpsorama" never took place or perhaps, just might have a more detailed reason! What's most exciting about all these revelations?
The Future Of The Two Series:
There was one thing the crew behind "Futurama" made super clear:
This massive multiverse also could possibly be a prelude for new cross overs! For anyone who loved that classic episode "Simpsorama," that featured the two casts meeting, this universe now allows it to happen again! In fact, if you look at the finale and how the crew are attempting to solve this mystery. What’s most exciting is Fry is looking for what is creating visions of the episode “Meanwhile,” so it might just lead to season "13!" and a big moment!
What if a new crossover episode came out? There would be lots of speculation about whether the shows are more intricately connected in other ways! Matt Groening's work has really caught the attention of a huge fan base. The universes of these shows could potentially come to a huge audience! What do these two series have? "The Simpsons," as a staple in animated series since the 1980s! A hit that was able to generate an iconic group of characters. What's amazing about Futurama, which is now in its second Hulu revival. These two together might just give fans everything they could ever ask for.
