Rick and Morty Gets Gothy Halloween-style
Starting with She Rick Holmes and Mortson #1 (Daniel Kibblesmith & Priscilla Tramontano) in February and ending with Old Man Morty #1 (Alex Firer & Fred Stresing), 2024 has been an incredible time to be a fan of Rick and Morty. Comprising stand-alone exploits, the specials also chronicle the most trying week in Morty's life as his grandfather interferes with every day of his Finals. Rick and Morty Super Spring Break Special #1 and the Rick and Morty: Kingdom Balls miniseries have also been published by Oni Press, hence the Rick or Treat Halloween Special is the icing on top for Smith family fans.
From the reference to H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu in the opening credits (revealed in the Comics to be Rick's kid) to homages of A Nightmare on Elm Street, Needful Things, The Purge and more, Rick and Morty is a sci-fi comedy but it always has a connection to horror. But this time the eerie fun will apparently see Rick focusing on Morty for presumably self-serving but unidentified motives. Lil Wigsley's arrival will let fans know exactly what's happening when Rick and Morty: Rick or Treat Halloween Special #1 arrives in shops this September.
Rick and Morty: Treat Halloween Special #1 ( 2024) Rick or Treat
Rick is hard at work in the garage; but, Morty simply won't stop yapping, so he makes a portal and brings in a strange, gothy-looking girl named Lil Wigsley. Rick says that if Lil Wigsley shuts down and listens, Rick will tell Morty stories; but, these are not any old stories. Though they are shockingly bland, it eventually becomes evident that Rick and Sister Lil Wigsley's intention to divert Morty is more sinister than the quick stories they have been spinning!
Marc Ellerby, Jarrett Williams, and Aaron Conley provide covers for the issue. Ellerby's graphic has Rick's still-sentient flesh bound around Morty reading a spoof of the Necronomicon. Conley's alternative cover portrays Rick injecting Morty with a serum transforming him into a massive werewolf, while Williams' variant cover sees Morty and Summer running across a cornfield, trying to avoid a Jason-esque attacker (both below).
Rick and Morty Announces RICK OR TREAT Halloween Special EXCLUSIVE
Oni Press is piling on even more with the introduction of Rick and Morty: Rick or Treat Halloween Special #1, in a year already full of goodies for Rick and Morty aficioners. The Smith family's exploits will be horror-oriented in the forthcoming Comic, adding a ghostly new character to the legacy of the series.
Rick and Morty: Treat or Rick Halloween Special, which runs 64 pages, will arrive at Comic book retailers September 25. The problem will have a new character called "Lil Wigsley" telling a sequence of events to Morty, presumably in an attempt to divert him from Rick's most recent scheme. Although Rick and Morty haven't yet unveiled Lil Wigsley's design, the description of "a weird, gothy-looking girl" points to her maybe being meant as a parody of Jenna Ortega's performance in the modern Addams Family film Wednesday.
Doofus are Rick is vying for the presidency as Rick and Morty confront President Curtis in a conflict likely to have significant repercussions for the show.
The newest Rick and Morty comic book will track Rick and Morty as they set out to destroy President Curtis. Rick and Morty's attempts to stop the villainous President Curtis, who is out to wipe out the universe, will form the basis of the forthcoming plot. Show enthusiasts will witness Rick and Morty's response to the most recent franchise happenings.
The comic is supposed to be a funny but riveting one. It will also allow viewers to see the interplay between Rick and Morty from fresh angles.
