Homelander's Comic-Accurate Costume Shown Terrifically in Photo-Real Fanart
The Boys on Prime Video has done a fantastic job translating the universe of The Boys from the comic book into the small screen. Among the most well-known characters in the show, Homelander, has had flawless live-action adaptation. But some of Homelander's suit's specifics were omitted from the live-action adaptation; this was something artist Kode Adbo (handle: bosslogic) addressed in a shockingly striking piece of fanart that vividly brought Homelander's original comic-accurate suit to life.
Comic-accurate homelander costume
Homelander is shown in the Fanart drifting in the middle of an office under shadow. Through a broken window, you can see some of the New York City skyline; but, your focus will be immediately drawn to the pool of blood seeping under him. Homelander's red eyes radiate readiness to launch a laser-vision attack. His suit covers in blood and is ripped.
Unquestionably, the picture is graphic since it depicts Homelander carrying out a horrible murder. Once you overcome the first shock of the picture, though, you find how amazing Homelander's suit looks. Seemingly ripped straight from the pages of The Boys comic, the giant golden eagle perched on his shoulder, the gold chain stretched across his chest, the bulgy thigh-padding, and the big belt buckle. All looks great.
Ripped Straight from the Boys' Pages: Homelander Fanart
Apart from precisely capturing Homelander's suit from the comic, the Fanart vividly depicts a scene from The Boys #64. Homelander has developed a strategy in this issue whereby the supes will seize control of the United States and subsequently the globe. A coup of this scope can be rather violent, as you would expect, and the state of Homelander's suit upon his visit to his handler at Vought, James Stillwell makes this abundantly evident.
Before breaking a window and entering, homelander floats outside Stillwell's office, high in Vought Tower. Homelander doesn't actually kill anyone, though, in the comics. Though he intends to kill Stillwell, he finally chooses against it after Stillwell performs some deftly—probably apathetically—played reverse psychology. Although the fanart reveals that Homelander broke into an office where a murder occurred, the comic this scene is inspired from does not actually show a murder - which, in and of itself is rather fascinating.
The Boys Fanart Perfectly Blends Live-Action with Comics in a Unanticipated Approach
Homelander spares Stillwell in the comics, while in the live-action series he kills Stillwell long before his intended coup—which viewers of The Boys season 4 are seeing play out right now. Considering the fanart with this in mind, it appears that the comics and the live-action series have been seamlessly combined in more ways than only realizing the Comic-accurate suit. When Homelander neglected to kill Stillwell, a sort of meta redesign of an other live-action adaptation, it seems as though the murder he committed in the live-action series was brought to the matching moment in the comics.
With a Comic-accurate suit for Homelander and a portrayal of the presumed murder of Stillwell, the artist seems to be guiding fans on how they would have adapted this scene from the comics, so preserving the plot-points from the live-action series but giving it a totally immersed comic-accurate treatment. The simple truth is, though, that this Homelander fanart is as breathtaking as it is terrible, which is the ideal portrayal of The Boys' worst villain regardless of what the artist may or may not have been trying to convey.
