Nathan Fillion's Green Lantern Costume in Superman
New set photos from Superman have revealed a first look at Nathan Fillion's Green Lantern, Guy Gardner. Fillion is playing a different version of Green Lantern than Ryan Reynolds' Hal Jordan in 2011's Green Lantern. The photos show Fillion sporting Guy Gardner's signature red hair and bowl cut, and his Green Lantern costume has some interesting details.
Fillion's Green Lantern costume includes a jacket, which is a signature piece of Guy Gardner's superhero suit in the comics. The DCU movie adds a lot more white to Guy's suit, although the Green Lantern's costume does have white elements like gloves in the comics. Guy's suit is usually a fully green jacket with black pants and sleeves.
Hawkgirl and Mister Terrific Join Superman
The set photos also revealed Isabela Merced's Hawkgirl and Edi Gathegi's Mister Terrific. The photos show the four DCU heroes walking together, and they are being cheered on by Metropolis citizens. This could be a hint at the plot of Superman. Hawkgirl is seen flying alongside Mister Terrific, while Green Lantern and Superman stay on the ground.
The set photos have also led to speculation about the Justice League International being in Superman. The heroes' costumes have a logo from LORDTECH, a company belonging to Maxwell Lord, who was the JLI's manager in the comics. Sean Gunn is playing Maxwell Lord in the DCU.
Green Lantern Costume Details
There's another detail that differentiates Guy Gardner's Green Lantern suit in Superman from his classic comic book look. Guy sports the same symbol on his suit as Mister Terrific. It's possible that this is part of a team design in Superman.
The photos have sparked excitement for Superman, which is the first movie in Warner Bros.' rebooted Dc Universe to center around the titular comic book hero. The film introduces a new version of Superman, after Henry Cavill's departure from the role.
