Mae / Osha, Amandla Stenberg
Born in Los Angeles, California, Amandla Stenberg adopted the Zulu and Xhosa moniker "Power." She initially starred in a feature film in 2011 with Zoe Saldana in Colombiana, but her major breakthrough came from portraying Rue in The Hunger Games. Skilled violinist Stenberg excels outside of performing as well.
Starring in The Acolyte as the twins Osha and Mae is Amandla Stenberg. Originally from the planet Brendok, the two girls were split apart after an unexplained catastrophe. Though she finally withdrew from this training, Osha became a Jedi Padawan; Mae appears to have been located by the Sith and has started a vicious vendetta against the four Jedi who visited Brendok 16 years ago.
Lee Jung-jae is Sol, Jedi Master.
First breaking through in the award-winning film An Affair in 1998 was the Korean actor Lee Jung-jae. Although he has had a good career as an actor and model, lately he became well-known worldwide for his part in Netflix's popular series Squid Game. With his 2022 film Hunt, Jung-jae has now also started directing.
Character: Lee Jung-jae stars Jedi Master Sol, the one who taught Osha.
Vernestra Rwoh is Rebecca Henderson.
Rebecca Henderson, a gifted actor and producer, is the wife of Leslye Headland, The Acolyte show runner. Headland knew she wanted her wife involved from the start, but for some time it was unknown exactly what part she would do. Henderson told Empire she started to find herself pulled to the Vernestra Rwoh character.
Character: Henderson portrays Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh, the sole other previously-existing character in The Acolyte. 116 years old by the time of the show, Vernestra Rwoh is a Mirialan Jedi Master with a remarkable degree of Force-sensitivity. Speaking with the voice of the whole order, she seems to be the Master of the Order by now, the most revered Jedi member.
Dafne Keen, Jecki Lon
James Mangold picked Dafne Keen to play the female clone X-23 - Wolverine back in Logan in 2017, therefore marking her acting debut. Mangold instantly decided she was the correct decision after seeing a video of the adolescent frantically scuttling over bookcases. Keen's career has shot skyward since then, leading to her current position in The Acolyte. Headland knew precisely what she wanted: X-23 with a lightsaber.
Character: Dafne Keen plays Master Sol's youthful Padawan, Jecki Lon. Jecki still remembers her homeworld, and in interviews, Keen has indicated she suffers a great sense of abandonment that drives her. The Acolyte chronicles Jecki's first mission, which doesn't seem to be proceeding very smoothly.
Charlie Barnett is Fandar from Yord.
Starring for three seasons as Peter Mills, accomplished theatrical actor Charlie Barnett made his small-screen debut on Chicago Fire. His career has progressed from strength to strength since then, highlighted on the Out100 Entertainers of the Year 2019 list. Barnett is helping to set designer Drew Bender and dressers.
Character: Yord Fandar is a Jedi Guardian noted for his unusual yellow lightsaber. Yord trained with Osha but finished his course and is now a Jedi Knight; he is rather rule-conscious. Along with Sol, he is tasked with looking at the unexplained Jedi killings.
Kelnatta's Joonas Suotamo is
Originally a body double for Peter Mayhew in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Joonas Viljami Suotamo is a Finnish actor and former professional basketball player. Mayhew's illness and age meant he could not carry on the role; Suotamo stepped in with Star Wars: The Last Jedi. He is now the go-to actor for Wookiees at Lucasfilm.
Character: The first Wookiee Jedi seen in live-action Star Wars, Joonas Suotamo portrays Jedi Master Kelnacca. Though he seems to be a mechanic, little is known of Kelnacca's background and personality. Kelnacca is a challenging target for Mae since he has lately become such a loner.
Carpenter-Anne Moss is Jedi Master Indara.
Raised in Vancouver, Carrie-Anne Moss will always be regarded as Hollywood royalty for her part in The Matrix. She underwent rigorous training and became an action hero from a great physical performance required of this part. Though she has a long history of famous and critically praised roles, this is her first Star Wars appearance.
Playing the tragic Jedi Master Indara, Carrie-Anne Moss leads a mission to the planet Brendok some sixteen years before The Acolyte. Indara is a competent and strong warrior who radiates battle confidence. She soon finds, sadly, that she has met her match.
Mother Aniseya is Jodie Turner- Smith.
After her parents' divorce when she was ten years old, Jodie Turner-Smith, a British actress and model, moved to the United States. 2009 saw her move to Los Angeles, following a major break in TNT's The Last Ship. Turner-Smith joined Kogonada on The Acolyte after working with him on his film After Yang.
Jodie Turner-Smith portrays Mother Aniseya, leader of a coven of witches with a far different perspective of the Force than that of the Jedi or the Sith. Leading her coven to the far-off Outer Rim planet Brendok, Mother Aniseya intends to hide from the Jedi. Knowing secrets of the Force others would desire, she has great power.
Manny Jacinto is Qimir.
Born in the Philippines, Manny Jacinto is a Canadian actor nominated for a Leo Award for The Romeo Section. His breakthrough performance in The Good Place brought him quick recognition. Having been with Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick, Jacinto's most important performance thus far was in several streaming shows.
Character: Manny Jacinto plays one of the most mysterious Characters in The Acolyte, a member of the criminal underworld who seems to be working for the Sith. Mae's confidante is Qimir, and their relationship is nuanced. That doesn’t necessarily mean they will always wind up on the same side, of course; treachery is the way of the Sith.
Dean- Charles Chapman
Working with Tom Holland, English actor Dean-Charles Chapman had a great West End career. His big break came thanks to Game of Thrones, nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award alongside the rest of the cast. His most notable performance to date was in 1917, where he played one of the two leads.
Character: Dean-Charles Chapman plays Jedi Master Torbin, another participant in a mission to Brendok 16 years before the events of The Acolyte. Beset with guilt over what happened on the planet, he swore a Barash Vow and isolated himself from the rest of the Jedi Order. His guilt makes him a prime target for Mae.
The Acolyte Supporting Characters
Margarita Levieva is Mother Koril: The American actress emigrated to the United States from what was then Leningrad when she was aged 11. Her career began in 2005 when she appeared in an episode of Law & Order, and since then she’s been in a wide range of different TV shows - soon to play Daredevil’s love interest Heather Glenn in Daredevil: Born Again. Her character in The Acolyte is a member of Mother Aniseya’s coven.
Lauren and Leah Brady are the young Osha and Mae: The young twins play Osha and Mae in a flashback to the events on Brendok, 16 years before The Acolyte. The two child actors are already well-established in the industry, but this is easily their biggest role to date. Thankfully, they more than rise to the occasion.
The Acolyte: A Guide to the Cast and Characters
The future of Star Wars lies in the past - specifically, a century before the events of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. The High Republic Era came to a conclusion here, the greatest age of the Jedi and the Republic.
The Acolyte is helmed by Leslye Headland, of Russian Doll fame. Its unique setting means the Disney+ TV show largely focuses on brand new Characters, and The Acolyte episode 3 even introduced a brand new Force cult.
