Diavolo's Death in Golden Wind Took Retribute Too Far
Thrilling takedowns of really terrible villains abound throughout JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, like Jotaro's famous beatdown of the series' best villain, Dio Brando, for instance. Many supporters live for the moment in every season when the Joestar protagonist unexpectedly takes the evildoer by surprise and corners them, rapidly eliminating them with deft use of Stand power. Usually terrible people, JoJo's enemies kill the innocent, ravenous for power at whatever cost, and see themselves as gods. When the heroes at last bring justice, this makes it fulfilling; some viewers believe that the punishment of one criminal was excessive.
Often considered as one of the best episodes in the whole series is Part Five, Golden Wind. Actually one of Dio's sons, Giorno Giovanna is the protagonist of this section. Called Gold Experience, he has one of the most fascinating and practical Stands that can make life out of any thing possible. Under Italy's widespread drug trade, Giorno and the Passione gang, under strict yet compassionate capo, Bruno Bucciarati, hunted the terrible mafia lord Diavolo, who was responsible for ruining the lives of many people, especially teenagers and children.
Giorno locked the Mob Boss inside a Cruel, Never-ending Time Loop.
Though with a different spin, Diavolo's Stand, King Crimson, was quite similar to Dio Brando's time-stopping Stand, The World. King Crimson totally erases time instead of only freezing it so he may see in the future and also "cancel" any attack that may endanger him. This made the horrible boss almost unbreakable. But Giorno's Gold Experience Stand levels up into Gold Experience Requiem using a strong Stand arrow, and he acquired a power the ideal counterpoint to King Crimson.
King Crimson could practically reverse the link between cause and effect, yet Gold Experience Requiem nullifies the "effect" instead. therefore implying the acts and will of its targets. Therefore, once this inescapable effect turns on, every action the opponent does will be undone independent of their capacity. This includes the death of any opponent directly targeted and "killed" by Requiem, which causes them to live with death in many forms constantly.
Arguably worse villains than Diavolo were given more mild penalties
Among Diavolo's several causes of death were drowning, a vehicle accident, stabbing, and being slashed open on an operating table. With no possibility of escape, every new method of dying appeared more horrible and brutal than the last. Given the horrors Diavolo was experiencing, this fate brought out a fresh, hitherto invisible part of him, transforming the boldly arrogant and frightening evil into a terrified coward.
While everyone agrees that Diavolo's merciless killings and drug distribution to weaker individuals justified retribution, others felt this penalty was excessive. Other villains like Dio, who similarly devastated humanity, were simply murdered; they were not destined to suffer in a cycle indefinitely. Dio most certainly killed more people than Diavolo ever did, but he was only beaten down by Star Platinum, Jotaro's Stand, and laid to rest; he did not get such a uniquely cruel punishment.
Giorno Proved Himself as the Most Callous Joestar
Although some JoJo's Bizarre Adventure villains got physically violent Stand attacks from the heroes, none of these match what happened to Diavolo. In spite of his unforgibly terrible deeds throughout Golden Wind, viewers could almost start to feel a bit sorry for him in his last scenes in the series, which show him in such a state of panic and terror.
When considering all the Jojos of the franchise, supporters should go beyond the "simple" measure of Stand powers. As the show has proved numerous times, grit, tenacity, and ruthlessness are usually what define success from defeat. Giorno demonstrated that he had all these traits plus that additional switch he can flip on to become quite nasty and vicious, maybe inherited from his father.
How Can One Find the Strongest JoJo?
Fundamentally a true adventure and action Anime, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure boasts well-known anime clichés. The victory of good over evil is one of these usually accepted subjects. Hirohiko Araki, the immensely inventive mangaka of the series, makes sure his heroes triumph over the evil villains they battle, therefore enabling the good guys to prevail in every facet of the venerable show.
Usually with the aid of a strong being known as a Stand, each of the nine sections of the franchise centers on a member of the Joestar family battling against villains and preserves peace in the city they live in. Stands take on a rather human-like appearance full of vivid colors and elements suggesting the talents of that particular Stand, hence personifying the powers of the hero.
Of course, given so many legendary heroes, fans sometimes debate which of the Jojos is strongest. Although Jonathan and Joseph from the competition are easy to write off, their successors make it difficult to find an explanation. Instead of just "powerscaling" their Stands, one could view the heroes in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure in different light.
Strength, after all, is about being cruel and ruthless when the circumstances call for it as much as about possessing superhuman abilities. From the terrible fate he intended for his villain, one JoJo clearly stands heads and shoulders above the rest in these criteria.
