While many might have felt resentment! It was actually motivation. Irving stated that those remarks encouraged him before that series. Irving pointed to it as being a way to have respect for each other and truly acknowledges that Edwards had the right mindset going in. Edwards may be exhausted, but his comment reveals his fearless personality which also shows just why many people love Anthony Edwards. The first game of the 2024 Western Conference Finals, which was played on May 22, 2024 ended up a win for Irving. The other games took place from May 24th to May 30th, ending with Dallas winning the series 4-1. In Game 1, Irving made an exceptional appearance with 30 points and also made shots that were 12 out of 23! That also made him play 40 minutes! Impressive! The comments may not have meant anything negative and instead brought motivation from both players in what seems like some great sportsmanship!
