Says Anson Mount, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 will be "Our Best Season So Far".
Playing Captain Christopher Pike, Anson Mount fervently declares that season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds "our best season so far". Season 3 of Strange New Worlds finished six months of development just before Memorial Weekend 2024. Though Paramount+ does not yet have a premiere date, Strange New Worlds secured an early season 4 renewal and filming is set to resume in Spring 2025. Audience expectation is skyrocketing meanwhile, particularly following the August 2023 cliffhanger ending of Strange New Worlds season 2.
Anson Mount spoke with Gold Derby on the popularity of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. With its highest risks—a comic crossover with Star Trek: Lower Decks and Star Trek's first-ever musical episode—Season 2 of Strange New Worlds routinely placed in the Nielsen Streaming Top 10. Mount hinted at the "even bigger swings" in Strange New Worlds Season 3, hinting that the musical "will not be the craziest thing that we did" by the end. Mount withheld revealing spoilers. Below is an Anson quote:
What possible Big Swings could Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 offers?
Though Anson Mount thinks they do, it's difficult to see how Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 can beat season 2's crossover and musical. Though the third Strange New Worlds season remains under wraps, a few dollops of material have surfaced. For instance, Jonathan Frakes is directing an episode of Strange New Worlds season 3 that has been hailed as a "Hollywood murder mystery," which might very definitely be as out-of-the-box as Strange New Worlds' musical.
Additionally returning as Lt. Montgomery Scott, sometimes known as Scotty, in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 is Martin Quinn. Many of the top filmmakers from season 2, including Frakes, Chris Fisher, Valerie Weiss, Dan Liu, and Jordan Canning, are back behind the camera for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3. Strange New Worlds is also unveiling a new Science Lab set aboard the USS Enterprise. Stories like Nurse Christine Chapel (Jess Bush) departing the Enterprise for her archeological medicine internship with Dr. Roger Korby, and Lt. La'an Noonien-Singh's (Christina Chong) will-they-or-won't-they love tale with Lt. James T. Kirk (Paul Wesley) will surely persist. Anson Mount is right to say that viewers of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 haven't seen anything yet.
Looking inside Star Trek's past, present, and future
Unlike the Rick Berman era's luck of the draw, the fact that directors are assigned episodes based on what the producers believe they would excel at, and that there are simply less Star Trek episodes produced in the streaming era than in Star Trek's syndication and broadcast network era, the cinematic visual style of the new shows where directors like Jonathan Frakes is encouraged to "shot to thrill." All of these innovations started with Star Trek: Discovery.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 - The New Era
"I believe it's not only an interesting season; technically, development-wise, it's going to be our finest season thus far; a lot of that has to do with even more major swings being taken. By the conclusion of this, the musical episode will not be the wildest thing we have done or experienced. We are understanding that what we are doing still speaks to us and that we have more responsibility for it.
Although the new season of the series may remain under wraps, the show's writers have been hinting at some quite intriguing turns. Viewers have been keen to see the creators of the show expanding on the achievements of the last two seasons. The first season presented a fresh Star Trek universe interpretation together with a new cast of characters. It also included a fascinating investigation of Spock's and Pike's relationship. Maintaining the essence of the first series, the second season kept building on this momentum and explored a darker and more sophisticated side of Star Trek. The writers of the program are already hinting at even more significant swings for the third season.
Burnham will require help from a range of new and familiar people as she explores the universe's greatest treasure in Star Trek: Discovery season 5.
The relevance of "The Chase" is obvious as Star Trek: Discovery marks a new chapter. The way the narrative was written delighted fans of a show. The show's creative team should motivate fans to watch a famous episode from the franchise afresh handled with their skillful approach.
Based on an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation he oversaw, Jonathan Frakes spoke of his "surprised" response to Star Trek: Discovery basing season 5 on. Including season 5 (and the series') penultimate episode, "Lagrange Point," Frakes has directed eight episodes of Star Trek: Discovery. Jonathan has always considered Star Trek: Discovery his "home" Star Trek on Paramount+ show since he joined as a director for season 2; yet, Frakes didn't imagine Discovery season 5 to pull its story from one of his TNG episodes.
Jonathan Frakes revealed in an exclusive interview with Screen Rant why he was "pretty surprised" that Star Trek: Discovery season 5 follows his Star Trek: The Next Generation season 6 episode, "The Chase." Frakes also discussed how directing the current Star Trek series differs from Star Trek during Rick Berman's 1990s era. Review his quote below:
