The second Ring of Power season is bringing a new figure with maybe significant connections to J.R.R. Tolkien's mythology. Season 2 of the Prime Video series already has several fresh characters scheduled to show up, including Rory Kinnear as beloved Tolkien's figure Tom Bombadil.
IGN's new season 2 photographs and details reveal the comeback of season 1 characters Arondir (Ismael Cruz Cordova) and Isildur (Maxim Baldry), joined by the new character Estrid (Nia Towle), whom Isildur will immediately trust. These particular details suggest that Estrid might be Isildur's wife, not mentioned in Tolkien's writings. Views the pictures below:
Tom Bombadil's arrival on the show marks a positive indicator. Though he isn't included in the first season, he's often cited as a book favorite. Viewers have expressed anticipation that this would indicate the show's dedication to the original material as the second season draws near.
The way the program employs fresh ideas and new people helps explain why it's successful. But with Tom Bombadil included, the show seems to be using a smart strategy to make sure the concepts and people fit the universe Tolkien created.
The Rings of Power chronicles, for the first time on film, the epic legends of Middle-earth's legendary Second Age history. Set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, the Rings of Power will explore a moment in the franchise where kingdoms rose and fell, where the One Ring itself was made, and narrates the rise of the Lord of the Rings Franchise's ultimate opponent, the Dark Lord Sauron. Starting in a period of peace, the drama follows a mix of familiar and new personalities as they negotiate the return of evil in Middle-earth, something that has long been dreaded. From the depths of the Misty Mountains to the woodlands of the elven city of Lindon, the island realm of Númenor, and to the far extremities of the map, The Rings of Power promises to distense the vast works of Tolkien into a condensed but complete TV show format.
September 2, 2022 saw Prime Video premiere the first season of Rings of Power.
