So he created some plans that brought in some crazy new changes to this sci-fi universe, using a well-known TV show "Star Trek: The Original Series". It's pretty cool.
The TV show was a major inspiration for this talented director. That’s no surprise when fans really get to see the incredible range he has! You see Tarantino made a super interesting, and fresh, approach. One that would have taken Star Trek: The Original Series in a new direction!
Star Trek 4 and Its Potential:
As J.J. Abrams revitalized the "Star Trek" film series, bringing fans new movies like "Star Trek" (2009), "Star Trek Into Darkness" (2013) and "Star Trek Beyond" (2016), It looks like it could go even further.
And even more Tarantino brought a whole new aspect for Star Trek movies, but one thing stood out! The most iconic thing, in this new vision was the use of a TV episode known as "A Piece of the Action" (1968), the classic TV show, Star Trek: The Original Series
If you don't remember. Tarantino had some exciting plans but he never got to bring them to the screen!
A Story Based on The Original Series:
Tarantino is best known for movies that really hit you hard, especially those who love crime films and action movies that will leave fans on the edge of their seats!
That’s what made this project exciting. With a super gritty style of directing, this could be a perfect recipe! The plan was to have a film based on the Star Trek episode known for its wild energy! A wild and fun series, to have Chris Pine who's the actor playing "Captain Kirk."
If anything. This script was an exciting concept that could have truly added new life, a bit of "A Piece Of The Action." This made it such an intriguing vision. What makes the movie even more interesting! You see "A Piece of The Action" included the most memorable, unique moments.
- We see the amazing Leonard Nimoy! It was such a unique role as "Mr. Spock."! The best moments? Well. They both got into this incredible world and performed amazing gangster-era Chicago roles! This truly was such an amazing period and made for a very funny "Star Trek" episode!
- In the end "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" became the final movie!
- It seems Tarantino had a different idea. That he would retire as director, and make this his final movie. He felt a film with such a huge name attached to it, and franchise wasn't what he wanted!
- You might think that there could have been more. We would never know as we don't know what would have been released. There are also reports that Tarantino has no regrets but wished the project could have moved forward as it had some amazing creative forces.
- It turns out, that the year 2020 brought even more unexpected hurdles for the world!
- With COVID-19, everyone in Hollywood, and just about every sector of business. Everything came to a standstill, which brought all film plans into an almost impossible situation to recover.
If anything, it would show just how fun and intriguing "Star Trek" is!
The Decision Not To Direct Star Trek
It seemed like we might get a Tarantino masterpiece. A lot was going on! Even before there was any official release!
For years we got bits and pieces about his big "Star Trek" movie but this came at an end, when Tarantino announced he was planning to make his tenth movie the final film for his entire director career.
As for the latest "Star Trek" installment it seemed like Chris Pine was all-in and was on the right path to making a huge hit. But at this point, Tarantino and the "Star Trek" movies look to be a what if. If everything went differently maybe we could see a classic gangster story take place with these Star Trek characters, a story with a super intriguing twist! However, at this time, we might have to imagine that this wild adventure, and potential franchise movie, has unfortunately become a story lost to Star Trek's long history.
