Cast of Breath of the Wild Weigh In on Tingle
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's actors discussed who they would cast as Tingle in their version of the game at MCM London Comic Con. One of the first games in the series with a full English voice cast, Breath of the Wild sparked rumors about which other long-running tale characters would make a comeback. At MCM London Comic Con, Patricia Summersett—who plays Zelda—and Sean Chiplock—who plays Revali—Teba, and the Great Deku Tree convened for a press panel to talk on their work on the series. Chiplock gave a very interesting response when asked who they would like to see voice Tingle: the merchant claiming to be a reincarnated fairy, if he were to resurfacing in the Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom era.
Sean Chiplock answered, "Keanu Reeves." "Very easily Keanu Reeves." With a laugh, Patricia Summersett agreed. "I'm going with that one too, yeah." Chiplock kept advocating for the actor, pointing out, "He performs his own stunts, guy! I could describe this in great detail as I have been playing Hyrule Warriors, but the funniest part to me is that, as a teen, it's like "who is this scary man in my Zelda game? As thirty-somethues, I desire nothing to do with him and find it to be "that's life goals right there!" That man is enjoying his best life, dressed anyway he prefers. When you run with him in Hyrule Warriors, he has the butt wiggle you know.
A film inspired by tingles
The performers were asked during the same press conference who they would like to see play their roles in the recently announced The Legend of Zelda film. Though believe Nintendo's choice and are convinced the team involved will come up with something "awesome," the pair did point out they couldn't seriously answer that based on Chiplock's casting as Cable in Deadpool 2. Regarding the film, Chiplock later jokingly said he would definitely portray Tingle in the forthcoming The Legend of Zelda movie, but only with actual firecracker confetti shooting out from his posterior, and performed in-person wiggle to show. Sean had obviously been thinking more about possible Tingle casting overnight as he seemed quite ready to respond a fan question about the movie's possible casting with a call to "cast Danny DeVito for Tingle!" which is an absolutely inspired piece of casting the following day at MCM London Comic Con.
Summersett even observed that she'd had a Tingle cosplayer come up to her, so it would please many to see the character return even if there hasn't been any confirmation that Tingle will appear in either a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom or in the movie. One thing is clear between the two panels Screen Rant saw at MCM London Comic Con: Nintendo has some inspired casting options to take under consideration for the part.
Casting for a Legend of Zelda Movie
Breath of the Wild features a full voice cast, hence natural conjecture regarding who would play characters in a live-action Zelda film is generated. The actors were very excited about casting when asked who they would want to see reflect their roles as they felt Nintendo could make the correct decisions. Speaking for Revali in the game, Chiplock said he wanted to see Josh Brolin perform the Goron Darunia. Though there was some discussion about whether Brolin could pull off the austere voice, the ensemble seemed to be in agreement that his performance in Deadpool 2 indicated he could manage a part with an edge.
Though there are several ways to bring The Legend of Zelda to the big screen, it's interesting to see what the ensemble has to say about casting decisions. Hopefully, sooner rather than later we will get more knowledge regarding the movie and the people involved.
