LEGO Luke Skywalker Can't Believe How Sad His Story Got
We've all been bummed out by the events of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, and let's be honest, the way Luke Skywalker's story went down wasn't exactly a happy ending for our favorite Jedi Master. From the crushing loss of his Jedi Academy to a super-powered, emotional, and tragic end-fight with Kylo Ren, things were rough for the once optimistic Luke.
Now, LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, which is dropping soon, is putting a hilarious spin on things! In the new trailer, we see Lego Luke totally freaking out about his own backstory. Imagine him sitting on the beach (probably after surfing with a cool podracer) and just like "Wait a minute, my dad's a terrible guy, my nephew wants to kill everyone, and the only thing I can do is use a giant amount of Force energy to end up dead?" It's just too much for our beach bro Luke.
The Sequel Trilogy - Not So Jedi For Luke
It's kind of funny, you'd think they'd let the Jedi hero get some kind of epic "and they all lived happily ever after" ending. Not exactly, right? Luke's got the entire galaxy on his shoulders, and we're talking an ongoing war for the fate of all those planets. So the new series will bring back those iconic Star Wars moments and stories in the world, but add some much-needed comedy. It’s not like Luke got a chance to just chill in his hut after all the mayhem!
Lego Luke, bless his plastic heart, makes a super funny point - his life is literally one bummer after another. And guess what? We’re not talking just the Force and galactic battles. We’re seeing Mark Hamill lend his iconic voice for Lego Luke and add some hilarious lines to all this craziness, and frankly, Lego Luke makes all the drama more interesting! This looks to be a classic Lego Star Wars movie with a dash of "Hey, it could always be worse." humor.
Mark Hamill Gets to Laugh At Luke Skywalker (Kind of!)
Even Mark Hamill, who's the one, true, living-breathing Luke, has commented on how he was basically used by Disney for Luke’s sad story. And I can't say he’s wrong – it felt like Luke got the short end of the stick.
But the good news? He gets to use his iconic voice in "Rebuild the Galaxy" and add some comedy. Mark’s already had a little fun with these characters! I wouldn't be surprised if he does a whole podcast later called "What if Luke Actually Loved His Job as a Jedi!" And in "Rebuild the Galaxy" we get to see Lego Luke actually joining forces with a guy named Sig and Jedi Bob to fix everything. Let's be real: It can't be any worse than what happened in the sequel trilogy.
Rebuild The Galaxy
This LEGO "Rebuild The Galaxy" story actually looks super interesting. We’re getting the heroes and villains back. We get Han Solo and Princess Leia! The LEGO team just does something that is different but in an interesting and hilarious way. It's like that fun time when you're playing Lego as a kid. It's full of imagination!
I've already got the best picture in mind – a super silly battle between those Lego spaceships (complete with awesome special effects). Maybe some of these Jedi won’t be such grumpy old Jedi in the LEGO Universe - it’ll be funny. It also seems like they're taking all the “good guy" "bad guy" things, and just turning the script, just a little bit, making all that action a lot more fun! You could say "Rebuild the Galaxy" is kind of like a Lego reset button for the universe. I mean, what else would a kid do if their Star Wars world was all mixed up? They'd try to fix it, right?!
A Big Dose of Fun (For Real! And In LEGO Form!)
When "Rebuild the Galaxy" premiers on Disney+ on September 13, I hope it's not just a bunch of “Lego battles". We all know Lego’s fun and full of hilarious little moments! If we're lucky, we might even see some serious "galaxy-saving action" (maybe even some podracing for Lego Luke).
This might not be the Star Wars story everyone was hoping for, but let's face it - the LEGO Universe needs to shake things up, and this new film might be just the fun dose of magic the franchise needed. There are also many different versions of Star Wars Movies to catch in LEGO form. Get ready for those laugh-out-loud moments. We could just get the laughs we desperately needed and who knows, maybe some seriously unexpected plot twists!
