Following the birth of dragonseeds, the second House Of The Dragon season 2, episode 7 teaser provides a glimpse of the penultimate episode of this season. As the Iron Throne war gets more intense, this episode seems to be crucial.
Directly following the end of episode 6, the episode 7 teaser shows Rhaenyra confronting Addam of Hull, the new dragonrider now mounted on Seasmoke. Daemon is also negotiating with young Oscar Tully, the new Lord of Riverrun, at Harrenhal simultaneously.
The teaser draws attention to the arrival of Addam of Hull, a new dragonrider claiming Seasmoke. Being a bastard son of Corlys Velaryon, Addam has Valyrian blood, thus he would be a good fit for bonding with a dragon. This unanticipated event might prove to be a major turning point in the current conflict.
In episode five, Jace and Rhaenyra hatched a scheme to find people with Valyrian blood to claim the riderless dragons on Dragonstone so turning the tide of war. Their first attempt to have Ser Steffon Darklyn claim Seasmoke ended tragically seems to be coming to pass with Addam's riding of Seasmoke. Given Corlys Velaryon's current position as Hand of the Queen, Addam's loyalty most certainly resides with the Blacks.
The teaser shows 16-year-old Prince Daeron, son of King Viserys and Alicent, bonded with a dragon. Set to feature in the last two episodes of the season, Daeron has been residing as a ward in Oldtown. The Hightowers think Daeron's dragon will make their troops unstoppable, so adding still another level of complexity to the war for the Iron Throne.
Comparatively to the action-packed Battle at Rook's Rest in episode 4, House Of The Dragon season 2 episode 6 had a slower pace. This episode concentrated on the aftermath of the battle, especially with relation to Rhaenyra and Jace's search for dragonseeds. Although the scheme first failed with the sad death of Ser Steffon Darklyn, it finally resulted in Addam of Hull riding for Seasmoke, so augmenting the Black arsenal with another dragon.
Crucially important in the story of House of the Dragon and central to the Targaryen legacy, dragons Their power and influence are felt all through the narrative, guiding events and deciding the fate of those trying to underline them. The stakes are set to increase and the effects of the war will be felt more profoundly than ever as more dragons join the fight in the last two episodes.
