Explained: Michael Desiato's Return to Prison and Eugene Jones's Fate, Your Honor Season 2 Ending
The second season of Your Honor ties many of the loose ends from the sad ending of season 1. From the first outing, the season intensues the stakes by delving into the aftermath of season 1's ending and Adam Desiato's sad destiny. Michael Desiato is incarcerated at the start of the season, but he has been let out early to assist in a federal inquiry of the Baxter Family. Michael is sent back into the Baxters' world, where conflicts are developing as they try to buy a waterfront property that will keep business flowing. As Your Honor was canceled before season 3, season 2 marks the end of the show.
Eugene Jones Found Guilty in Your Honor Season 2? His Fate Justified
Your Honor season 2 mostly centers on what happens to Eugene Jones following his season 1 finale shooting Adam Desiato. Little Mo treats the lad and lets him go while Big Mo orders his death. Eugene leaves New Orleans and seeks cover for a bit with Aunt Sheila. Sadly, a string of bad circumstances brings him back to New Orleans, and people finally come to see he did not die the way Mayor Figaro, Big Mo, and the NOPD reported. Rudy Cunningham attempts to cover their lies and kill him, but Eugene survives being shot.
Eugene is arrested while he is at the hospital, thus he must stand trial during the later half of Your Honor season 2. Lee is trying to get his sentence cut, but should he be found guilty, Eugene could spend a lifetime in prison or maybe a life sentence. Lee makes every effort to tilt the jury in his advantage. Though Lee tries to persuade the jurors that he is deserving of sympathy, there is no doubt he shot Adam. And since Michael Desiato confesses his own crimes from Your Honor season 1, Eugene's circumstances on the witness stand does change.
Michael confesses to covering up the hit-and-run when he is called as a witness and admits Adam, not Kofi Jones, killed Rocco. Although Michael's testimony makes one sympathetic to Eugene, this is not the only way he supports the youngster. Knowing that Eugene's family ran out of gas when their house exploded, he advises Lee to approach Eugene from the standpoint of on-stand performance. This proves indeed that the Baxters killed Eugene's whole family. And although they have no repercussions, given the situation Eugene's actions make far more sense.
Given the jury never gets the chance to render a decision, it is difficult to determine whether Eugene would still have been found guilty following all this. After reading Eugene's story, Olivia Delmont, the federal agent Michael is seeing throughout Your Honor season 2, chooses to assist. She passes his case to the government, so making him a key witness for the Baxter probe. She lets Eugene enter protective custody in return for information on the Baxters—even minimal information. Although Eugene cannot recover his identity, he can begin anew at the end of Your Honor.
Why Michael Desiato Returns to Prison at the End of Your Honor?
While Eugene walks free at the end of Your Honor, Michael returns to prison in season 2. Michael never technically does time for covering up Adam's hit-and-run or influencing Carlo Baxter's trial. Michael's initial confession is buried since Olivia wants him to help her investigate the Baxters. According to reports, his first incarceration term was for "tax evasion," thus he most certainly still could be found guilty for his actual crimes.
Should Michael have remained silent, his arrangement with Olivia most likely would have kept him out of prison permanently. After a rather public confession, though, it makes logical that he must answer more questions—this time on record. Michael does creditable reentering of prison voluntarily. He seems happy serving time for his deeds; Your Honor season 2 lets him tie off loose ends and atone ahead of time.
The Reason Fia Gives Up Her Baby in Your Honor Season 2
Fia's narrative in Your Honor season 2 centers on her and Adam's baby; at the series' conclusion she chooses to place Rocco Adam Baxter for adoption. Fia does not do this lightly; rather, she feels as she told Father Jay earlier that she cannot provide the boy a decent life. Fia, who is just 17 years old, has few choices for employment or prospects. She hands Rocco over to Father Jay since she doesn't feel she can raise him correctly and looks for a new life for herself.
Given both sets of grandparents show themselves unreliable, Fia also probably wants the baby away from Adam's and her families. Fia doesn't want Rocco anywhere near the Baxters since her family engages in illicit and sometimes violent activities. She also probably feels Adam's family is almost as bad following Michael's treachery. Fia removes Rocco from all these bad influences and offers him a possibly better life by letting him be adopted.
Who is in charge of the Baxter Family at the end of your honor and does Jimmy survive?
Although Jimmy and Gina Baxter are locked in a power struggle most of Your Honor season 2, Gina emerges triumphant at the finale. When she tells her father Jimmy is threatening to toss her under the bus, Carmine shoots Jimmy. The ending of Your Honor shows Carmine in jail and reveals Jimmy survives this encounter. Gina is now in charge of the Baxter Family's company and appears dedicated to provide Carlo more influence in their affairs.
