Two new cast members for the much awaited spin-off series of The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage have announced fresh faces to the heartwarming tale of young love, parenthood, and the trials of married life.
Series regular cast members Jessie Prez and Dougie Baldwin bring complexity and humor to Georgie & Mandy's ensemble cast. Prez will play Ruben, a Mandy's father's tire store employee. His character adds a layer of conflict and humorous tension as he becomes annoyed by the arrival of Georgie, so giving the already complicated relationship between the two families dynamic direction.
Baldwin will fill in for Mandy's younger brother Connor McAllister, a character Joseph Apollonio once played in Young Sheldon. Baldwin will now give Connor, a misfit who still lives with his parents fresh life and a little eccentricity and unexpected humor will help to change the family dynamic.
Prez and Baldwin offer the Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage cast great experience. Prez most recently starred Sal Magluta in the Netflix crime drama Griselda, teaming with Sofía Vergara. His past credits highlight his adaptability; he appeared in hit shows including Chicago Fire, Shameless, Atypical, Bosch: Legacy, 9-1-1: Lone Star, The Rookie: Feds, and Abbott Elementary. As Prez negotiates the complexity of the tire store environment and his relationship with Georgie, his skill in managing dramatic and humorous roles will prove quite valuable.
Baldwin's resume may be shorter, but it features noteworthy recurring parts. Both running concurrently from 2013 to 2016, he was Felix Ferne in the Australian series Nowhere Boys for 27 episodes and Shawn Van Winkle in Upper Middle Bogan for 24. Showcasing his comic timing and ability to hold his own alongside seasoned actors, his most recent notable performance was opposite Oscar-winning actress Kathy Bates in the Netflix comedy Disjointed. Baldwin is unrelated to Alec Baldwin or his siblings even though he shares a last name with the eminent acting family.
Although deeply immersed in the lighthearted comedy of The Big Bang Theory universe, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage is expected to explore more serious issues using the emotional depth of Young Sheldon, her parent series. Sensitive topics including the death of a significant character, Georgie's father, George Cooper Sr. (Lance Barber), in the last season of Young Sheldon have already been addressed on the show. Prez and Baldwin on board will help the show to provide a fair mix of humor, heartwarming stories, and examination of the difficult issues experienced by young couples negotiating parenthood.
October 17 at 8:00 p.m. ET will see the first marriage of Georgie and Mandy broadcast on CBS. The premiere is much awaited by fans of The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon as well as those looking for a charming and relevant depiction of young love and family life.
