Eric Kripke reveals Butcher's new ally for Boys Season 4.

Jeffery: What To Expect? The Boys Season 4's Dean Morgan's Character

Since other performers such Jensen Ackles, Nathan Mitchell, Adrian Holmes, Christian Keyes, Jim Beaver, and more share a creator in Kripke, Morgan is the newest Supernatural star to join The Boys. Unlike some of the other performers to make the change, Morgan already has experience performing a sophisticated, superpowered character – The Comedian in Zack Snyder's Watchmen, an adaptation of Dave Gibbons and Alan Moore's comic book. Whether Morgan's secret character will acquire superpowers for The Boys Season 4 is yet unknown.

Supes Susan Heyward as Sister Sage and Valorie Curry as Firecracker are among other newcomers to The Boys Season 4. Previously, it was hypothesised that Morgan will use well-known comic book character Tek Knight in The Boys season 4. But Derek Wilson was presented as the millionaire Supe in The Boys offshoot Gen V, so excluding Morgan from playing him in season 4. Kripke claims that Tek Knight was never taken under consideration for Morgan, adding "Once the character he plays came up, we said, 'Oh! That would be perfect for Jeff.'" If he could swing it, he was always going to play that character." Though he doesn't say anything else, Morgan thinks the part he's now playing is "a little bit more perfect" for him than the earlier ones Kripke considered. Kripke's remarks do highlight that Morgan's mystery character—an old friend of Butcher's—shares his strong contempt of Supes. Generally, Kripke says, the idea behind his character is to investigate what might happen if someone supported rather than tried to control Butcher's aggressive impulses. When the Boys season 4 opens, much more about their dynamic will be revealed.

Saying "He Shares a Lot of Butcher's Concern," the Boys Showrunner Eric Kripke teases Jeffrey Dean Morgan's mystery role in Season 4.

Eric Kripke, the showrunner for The Boys, previews Jeffrey Dean Morgan's mystery character for season 4. Inspired by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comic book, Prime Video's satirical superhero series centers on the titular gang of vigilantes, headed by Billy Butcher, who fight corrupt superpowered people abusing their talents. Set for a three-episode release on June 13, the Boys season 4 has a few fresh characters, including Morgan, whose character's identity is yet unknown, so much is yet unknown about him.

Kripke began revealing about Morgan's mystery role in The Boys season 4 in an Entertainment Weekly interview. "He is an old colleague of Butcher's," the showrunner explains, "shares a lot of Butcher's concern and hate of superheroes." Below are Kripke's entire comments: "He works for Butcher's former company. He expresses a great deal of Butcher's anxiety and contempt of superheroes. It basically derived from the idea that everyone else in The Boys is constantly attempting to drag Butcher back. What then would happen if he began working with someone eager to advance him?"

The Brothers

Based on the same-named comic book series, Eric Kripke developed The Boys as a superhero/dark comedic satire series. The show is set in a "what-if" universe that honors superheroes as gods or celebrities with little consequences for their deeds. To reveal them for what they are, one squad of vigilantes under the direction of a vengeance-obsessed guy called Billy Butcher will fight back against these super-charged "heroes."

Audiences have grown to love the show, which generates a lot of excitement about the frequent caustic humor and storyline surprises across every season. The Boys has also attracted much positive criticism. Among the several reasons the show is so well-liked is its ability to creatively tackle concerns of corruption, power, and the human condition.

The Boys stream on Prime Video.
