Why Was Dean's Return So Appropriate for the Station 19 Series Finale?
Particularly in comparison to its parent show, Grey's Anatomy, Station 19 regularly maintained a rather steady cast. Six of the nine major characters from season 1 still appeared in season seven. This suggests that the show was much changed by every Original Character's absence, especially Dean's.
He died in Station 19 season 5 after bringing Vic back to life following her shock; just before his death, the two had become closer and had even started a romance. After Dean passed away, each of these factors had a major effect on Vic's character growth. After Dean passed away, Ben and Bailey ended up adopting Pru, his daughter, which altered their stories going forward on the show.
Co-showrunner Zoanne Clack of Station 19 talks on the dramatic return of an original character in the season 7 finale.
Grey's Anatomy's spinoff came to an end in the episode "One Last Time." The creative team of the show was lucky to know the cancellation ahead of time so they could create a fitting farewell. Flash-forwards abound in the climax, as the characters fantasize of their ideal futures—often years later. Vic's flash-forward notably highlighted the reappearance of Okieriete Onaodowan's Dean, who passed away in season five, and displayed her triumph with Crisis One.
Clack discussed building Vic's flash-forward and Dean's part in it with TV Insider. Her whole comment is as follows:
Station 19: Traveling Through the Past
Though Dean's comeback helped to make the Station 19 season Finale mixed, overall it was upbeat.
Given Pru's personal involvement in Ben and Bailey's flash-forwards, it seems sense that Dean was spared for Vic's. As fans frequently expect to see departed characters in a show's penultimate episode, his comeback gave weight to a previously poignant series conclusion and a good dose of fan service. His comeback was exactly the kind of emotional ending spectators were looking for.
Examining Station 19: Its Start
Grey's Anatomy spinoff Station 19 began on ABC in 2018. The show tracks the personal and career life of Seattle Fire Station 19 firemen. Grey's Anatomy and Station 19 occasionally have crossover events whereby one plot runs across both shows throughout one evening.
Viewers of this show have been quite excited in part due of its strong characters and gripping narratives. Strong female main roles abound throughout the program. The program so boasts a devoted following.
The Effects of Dean's Reversal
We were hoping for Vic's flash-forward for some time, thus it was very funny. We knew we couldn't show her with Travis as we wanted that to be a surprise for Act 6, thus compromising the first flash-forward we had planned to show. Still, it was important to prove Vic took Crisis One. I really wanted to pay that ahead since in Season 6 she returned to school pursuing a degree in psychology. She is truly furthering the idea since, as you will see, she now holds a Ph.D. in psychology. We think the most poignant and truly connected your soul was the means to restore the motivation behind all of it. Actually, the breakthrough we made was her success and knowledge that Dean was happy of her. For example, we were still working on precisely how we wanted to present that story on perhaps the third day of filming, then we knew bringing Dean back would be a fantastic ending and a very satisfying ending to her path. One day we called him, presented our case, then he stopped us and said, "I'm here. I am here arriving. Flying from New York, he brought that moment to pass. It was outstanding.
The emotional link among the actors, the caliber of the writing, and the gripping plot combined for a fantastic ending. The emotional conclusion that viewers were yearning was provided by Dean's comeback.
