Daemon Targaryen's Harrenhal Visions
House Of The Dragon season 2 has taken Daemon Targaryen on a pretty intense journey through Harrenhal, where those cursed castle walls bring visions and dreams to the forefront, which is almost never good for anyone, especially Daemon. He was aiming for dominion and trying to get some of the Riverlands armies to follow him down to King's Landing for a major takeover.
But while Daemon is on his mission to be king, those dreams become almost a side quest. And in a super crucial moment for the story, Daemon gets an Aegon Dream vision. You know the story, how everyone thought a dragon prince named Aegon could end the long winter! Now we're getting glimpses of this history with the current characters, which means the whole story gets a serious reboot.
The Green Men of Harrenhal
Get ready for a serious head scratcher, folks. We meet this weird antler dude hanging out with Daemon. It seems as strange as Daemon's missions and those dreams, but you see, that's not just a spooky hallucination. That dude is part of the Green Men. Yeah, remember how the green men and those Weirwood Trees in "Game of Thrones" made magic seem so mysterious? Those folks are definitely going to play an important part as this storyline unfolds! The Green Men live on the Isle of Faces at the God Eye by Harrenhal.
We have theories floating around that these men who hang out at those creepy Weirwood Trees (that’s their jam, apparently) could be like some of the early wargs, and it's why Game of Thrones mentioned them. They have antlers and ride elks, though those might just be hats with antlers instead, especially if you’ve been watching the shows, not all the magic makes it on screen.
Why This Might Mean That Daemon Doesn't Actually Die
The writers have definitely made this moment a huge deal, but with all the connections to Daemon’s future at the God's Eye and those dreams of the weirwood, it could totally mean that those Green Men have a super important part to play.
Because the show's been going by "Fire & Blood" the prequel book that basically acts as history of the Targaryen's, and based on what’s in the books, Daemon goes down in a epic battle above the God’s Eye! But the weird thing is that they don’t actually find his body, and there are theories that he might survive. What if the green men come into play? Maybe they hide Daemon away after the big dragon showdown. Or perhaps they take him in to train him in the power of those weird trees and stuff like the Three-Eyed Raven! (Maybe we have another big warg to worry about.
House of the Dragon Season 2 Finale The Green Men And a Hint Of Things To Come
Just like we saw with those strange, magical visions Daemon was having, we’re getting hints that the green men are going to play a part in House Of The Dragon, with Addam of Hull riding his dragon, Seasmoke, to those strange dudes at a weirwood, where he had some secret discussion about everything.
Since we saw a glimpse of these Green Men hanging around near those important weirwoods at Harrenhal in the season 2 finale, we have a hunch about their possible connection to "Aegon’s Dream". That's what Daemon's vision was all about, that super powerful dream that people are always talking about – the one about a Dragon Prince who could end a really long winter.
The Long Night is Still a Long Way Off!
We can expect a whole lot of new stories as "House of the Dragon" gets into its own version of the Game of Thrones, especially since everyone has those magical dragons flying around!
But I can’t help but be curious about the role of those creepy green men and the magic of those trees. I'd love to see if those Green Men and that magic could connect more to the "Aegon’s Dream" storyline. It's all leading up to that Long Night! We already know they're getting their game face on. Maybe with a bit of that Green Men magic, everything will change in the coming seasons!
