The Veil's high point is Moss's performance as Imogen, a spy with a sad past who has developed fixation on "annihilation of the self." Given that Moss is an Emmy winner from The Handmaid's Tale, having been nominated for Mad Men, this should not surprising.
Sadly, the plotting of The Veil does not match Moss's performance. Though it never proves to be very interesting, the globetrotting narrative of the show has all the necessary problems related with the spy genre. Between Moss and her primary scene partners, Yumna Marwan as accused terrorist Adilah El Idrissi and Dali Benssalah as Malik Amar, a French intelligence agent and Imogen's love interest, there is also lacking chemistry.
Elisabeth Moss responds quite well when talking about possible The Veil season 2 locations. With a 52% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Hulu's espionage show from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has been less-than-acclaimed, starring Moss as cunning and relentless British agent Imogen Salter. With this mixed reception, Imogen's The Veil season 2 return looks quite dubious.
Though Moss, for her part, is game to further explore the character of Imogen, after only "scratching the surface," it is yet unknown whether Hulu and FX want Moss and Knight back for another season of The Veil. See her comments below (via Collider):
The Veil by FX investigates the shocking and complex relationship between two women engaged in a lethal game of truth and lies on the way from Istanbul to Paris and London. One lady has a secret; the other is on a quest to expose it before thousands of deaths occur. Mission controllers at the CIA and French DGSE had to set aside disagreements and cooperate in the shadows to prevent possible catastrophe.

Moss appears more than just game to go more into this complicated character; she has more to discover in the enigmatic, shape-shifting Imogen, who may indeed form the basis of an ongoing series of stories. But Knight would have to surround his fascinating main character with a more engaging gallery of supporting people and put her into a narrative that transcends mere succession of warmed-over spy fiction clichés if season 2 wants to surpass the poor The Veil season 1.
