The creator of Sons of Anarchy did not want these huge stars on the show (and you will never guess why!).

Creator of Sons of Anarchy Didn't Want Michael Chiklis & Walton Goggins On The Show

While some of Sons Of Anarchy's guest stars left a significant impression on the show's narrative and the storylines of particular characters, others appeared momentarily and had little bearing on the plot. Though not for sinister motives, Kurt Sutter clearly knew who he did not want in Sons of Anarchy. Speaking with Wired for its "Internet's Most Asked Questions" section, Walton Goggins revealed that Sutter previously had an interview where he stated Michael Chiklis and Goggins were the only two people he could not have in Sons of Anarchy. Sutter oversaw both Chiklis and Goggins as executive producer for the crime TV show The Shield. Sutter wanted them out of Sons of Anarchy since their roles in The Shield made them extremely identifiable and it would have been difficult for the audience to view them as different characters. Speaking with Sutter about it, Goggins informed him he would only do the show if he portrayed a transgender role. Two years later, Sutter asked Goggins whether he was committed to portraying a transgender character since he now had a part for him in Sons of Anarchy.

One of the best characters in Sons of Anarchy was Venus Van Dam; she also was vital for Tig's development.

Walton Goggins joined Sons of Anarchy season five as Venus Van Dam, a transgender sex worker visited when SAMCRO needed to blackmail a nearby businessman. Returning as a regular feature in seasons 6 and 7, Venus became an ally of SAMCRO and started a love connection with Tig Trager (Kim Coates). In the last episode of Sons of Anarchy, Venus visited Tig after voting for a chaos vote on Jax, therefore implying Jax had to die. Though Goggins only spent a short period of time on Sons of Anarchy, Venus Van Dam became of the best characters in the show and was essential in Tig's character development. By the end of Sons of Anarchy, Tig was the different and better guy among all the characters; he underwent the best development. Venus attended to Tig's needs for affirmation, affection, and attention; he offered himself to her in ways he hadn't been able to before they crossed paths. Venus also arrived to question those poisonous beliefs still in place in SAMCRO. Venus brought out a different, kinder side of Tig he had kept buried for years because of personal pain, bigotry, and some of the club's poisonous policies. Venus also arrived to question the poisonous beliefs still ingrained in SAMCRO, so inspiring not just Tig but the rest of the club to be more transparent, inclusive, and generally better. Venus was also a complicated character as, although she was a strong and loving lady, she also carried a lot of pain from before and after her transition. Like Tig sought comfort and support in her, she found the same in him.

The Sons of Anarchy Character of Michael Chiklis had a part in Gemma & Jax's Deaths

Sutter brought Michael Chiklis as well as Walton Goggins into Sons of Anarchy. Though his tenure on the series was short, Chiklis portrayed Milo in the last two episodes of Sons of Anarchy, both directly and subtly participated in the two largest deaths of the show: Gemma's and Jax's. After a quick chat, Milo, a truck driver, offered Gemma a lift as she was on her way to her father's nursing facility. Later Gemma visited her father's house, where Jax arrived to murder her. Jax drove into Milo's path and let go of the bike after spotting Milo heading in the other direction, slamming into Milo's truck and dead on the scene. Being the truck driver who unintentionally killed Jax has resulted in rumors regarding Milo's being either a source of decency and/or redemption or Chiklis's The Shield character living under a new name. Milo's appearance in Sons of Anarchy made Gemma's final moments more dramatic.

Sons of Anarchy: How Choices Made the Show Better

Over its seven seasons, Sons of Anarchy had some fascinating Guest Stars; two of them came from failed promises made by the program's producer, but they enhanced the show anyway. Arriving back in 2008, Sons of Anarchy sought to transport viewers into the convoluted and violent world of motorcycle groups. Designed by Kurt Sutter, Sons of Anarchy exposed the viewers to the title MC in the fictional town of Charming, California, where they not only safeguarded the community but also engaged in dubious businesses and confrontations with other MCs and certain criminal organizations. Son of Anarchy tracked Jackson "Jax" Teller ( Charlie Hunnam), the vice president of the club at the start of the show and the son of one of its founders. Jax moved from VP to President of the club, but this combined with the disclosure of several sinister secrets about his family and the club brought about his demise. Critics and general viewers praised Sons of Anarchy, and its popularity resulted in several Guest Stars; two of them stand out as they broke a casting commitment made by Sutter, but their characters ended up benefiting the program in different ways.
