Star of *Mr. & Mrs. Smith*, Maya Erskine offers a peek of Season 2 but avoids answering concerns over whether she would be returning. After Prime Video premiered in February, Mr. and Mrs. Smith were swiftly accepted by the company and renewed for a second installment alongside co-creators Donald Glover and Francesca Sloane. Unverified rumors, however, have surfaced since then that Erskine and Glover won not be returning in their starring roles. Sloane has since questioned their accuracy in spite of these unverified accounts; no official statement has been issued.
During a Gold Derby interview, Erskine was asked about her status for *Mr. & Mrs. Smith* Season 2. Declining to clarify whether she will be back, the *PEN15* actress emphasizes she doesn't want to ruin the season 1 finale and hints to a very interesting development since she believes the next episodes will be even better. I am rather knowledgeable about several things. We don't want to, you know, the whole point of having a cliffhanger is so you have the enjoyment that of when you watch the following season, therefore I mean I just have to keep saying the same thing where it is like. Furthermore, since it is formally renewed today, I can tell that the ideas for the second season will be... I believe it will be even better than the first season. Whether that covers us or not is a mystery. But I do believe it will be rather interesting if they commit and follow that path.
The makers have hinted at season 2 even though no official announcement has been made. Viewers might thus expect more of the couple's exploits in the forthcoming season. The uncertainty of whether the original performers will come back for the next season heightens the buzz.
