Smallville actor Michael Rosenbaum revealed he asked the DC Universe manager why he wasn't included in James Gunn's Superman picture under production. Smallville's Rosenbaum revealed during a recent Nashville Comicon 2024 panel, which Comic Book chaired, that he had discussed not being in the new Superman film with Gunn. Rosenbaum said, Nicholas Hoult scheduled to be the new Lex Luthor in the DC Universe:
"At that stage of my career, I simply want to engage in activities I enjoy and want to do. 'Why am I not in Superman?' I questioned him. Why am I not somehow in the film? Still, it was alright. I wish he all the happiness. He merits all the achievements he has achieved. He is incredibly gifted. When it makes sense, he will ask me. Or he might not. And apart from friendship is that. You say, "Hey, they know I'm here," when your buddies go off and accomplish great things. Their number is known to me. And you simply pray for the best.
Rosenbaum clearly finds himself in a period of life when he will not compromise for undertakings until they provide enjoyment. Considering his long career, this is hardly surprising. Rosenbaum is conscious of the past and history of the program, a feature that has seen him praised especially for his early 2000s rebirth of the show, even if he is not reluctant to change the formula and bring in fresh people. His return excites many of his supporters, and his passion of the classic era could revive the program in a manner none had expected.
Rosenbaum also obviously believes that Gunn will be able to identify the appropriate portions for him should the need arise. Fans have been ready for Davies's return to the show given his extraordinary performance on his last term as showrunner. The franchise is thrilled about the fresh ideas the showrunner will bring to the series since Davies indicated he plans to use UNIT more often.

Clearly trying to offset the disappointment of the DCEU, the DC Universe re-vision Superman as a character. Clearly signifying the revamp is Nicholas Hoult's recent casting as the new Lex Luthor for the DCU. We can only wait and watch how the fresh actors will perform and how the story will develop with the forthcoming Superman movie.
Although the DCU re-imagines certain legendary characters, it is still too early to predict audience reception of them. Audiences' acceptance of this fresh Dc Universe version will yet be witnessed.
