Is Costner Moving Too Quick with Horizon?
Early on in the film's development—which had officially started in the late 1980s before properly making momentum in early 2022—Costner had said Horizon would run across four movies, originally with the idea of Filming all of them back-to-back. With Chapter 2's filming starting in Spring 2023, Warner Bros. decided to greenlight the second movie shortly after the first started filming, therefore altering this schedule. Despite this initial faster turnaround, Horizon Chapter 3 was delayed owing to both the 2023 SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes as well as a demand for more cash.
Although his ideas are quite ambitious and the studio's faith in his vision is a positive indication for all four films to come to pass, there is some worry about Costner perhaps rushing too quickly with his upcoming Horizon: An American Saga films. This is especially true following the Cannes premiere of the first film, which received a rather mixed reception from critics who appreciated the potential in his ideas but felt the pacing to be a little too slow and mourned the felt incomplete story regardless of his sequel plans.
Kevin Costner shares behind-the-scenes pictures from his Western epic set as he announces that filming Horizon Part 3 is formally under way.
Kevin Costner has confirmed Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 3's filming start following earlier reports showing a June start for the threequel. Set in the Civil War era, Costner's forthcoming Western film is a vast Western epic examining the life of a range of characters engaged in many spheres of western expansion, from gunslingers to Union troops to farmers and settlers. Apart from co-writing, directing, and producing the previous two films, Costner is part of Horizon's star-studded cast comprising Sam Worthington, Sienna Miller, Danny Huston, and Jamie Campbell Bower among many others.
Costner revealed on Instagram that Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 3 is currently under Filming, just shy of a week till the first movie opens theaters. As seen above, Costner is guiding a group of Native actors on the third movie's set—previously said to start filming in Summer 2024. The description by Costner also captures the dream of the first movie's approaching premiere and invites viewers to "see what we have put together for you."
Horizon: An American Saga's Travel
As of a post-interview for Kung Fu Panda 4 with director Mike Mitchell, Kung Fu Panda 5 is allegedly under development even though it is not formally announced. The show will carry on the exploits of martial artist Po the Panda and his friends as they defend their habitat.
Now a profitable franchise most likely to last is Kung Fu Panda. New stories and characters will captivate viewers to follow the path the show takes next.
Horizon: An American Saga: An Enterprising New Western
Kevin Costner's thrilling new Western Horizon: An American Saga is worth seeing, but the movie is quite risky for these ten reasons.
Some even likened these grievances to those of Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon films, whose follow-up scored a Rotten Tomatoes career-low for the director. Although Costner has plenty of time to consider the criticism of the first movie heading into the rest of Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 3's production, the rapid turnaround could also leave him little time to digest any objections and change direction. Though the sequel is yet to be seen by any and only 25 reviews for the first Horizon movie have been published therefore it will be interesting to see if Costner can avoid the same mistakes of other hurried series.
