In one of the episodes of Blue Bloods, Frank is shown to have an older friend named Margaret Colin, who was part of the cast in a previous Tom Selleck show called, "Three Men and a Baby!" This was an element that gave audiences a look into how "Frank Reagan" might be getting more attention from those who could become more than just a friend.
Selleck made sure that it wouldn't happen and had that iconic "wedding ring", to signify the commitment that "Frank Reagan" has to his wife.
