Like Aniseya's gang, the Nightsisters identified as witches since they engaged in magick, a dark side Force power functioning in like manner to the magical spells of other fantasy works. The Nightsisters were known to fight both parties at separate periods, so they did not fit the binary perspective of the Force that the Jedi and Sith held even as they possessed dark side powers.
Unlike the Sith, the Nightsisters searched for power not using their relationship to the Force. Since they considered the Force as a tool rather than a weapon, they hardly ever aimed it to rule others. Deep connections to their homeworld, Dathomir, also drove the Nightsisters, therefore many of their interactions in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and other tales focused on ensuring their own presence and protection. They also partnered with Grand Admiral Thrawn in Ahsoka so they might rebuild themselves following Count Dooku and General Grievous eradicating them from The Clone Wars.

Turner-Smith's comments offer some insight into the enigmatic new group, but she couldn't provide many specifics regarding Aniseya's worldview during the interview since she couldn't reveal the reveals likely to be made in The Acolyte.
