What’s So Wrong with the 2000s Fantastic Four Movies?
Remember those old Fantastic Four Movies? They had a whole vibe going on for that superhero fun! But after awhile, a lot of fans feel like it just doesn't hold up to all those epic superhero movies we have now. Turns out a lot of those Fantastic Four scenes, especially the cringeworthy scenes, have aged poorly.
What Makes Them So Outdated?
You have to think about it in the context of how movies used to be. The Fantastic Four movies had that 2000s style that has faded a bit over time. There's so much about the original Fantastic Four movie that seems kinda strange - especially if you watched them a lot during the 2000s. Those early superhero movies did things differently back in the day, so the effects, story, and characters look a lot different now! It's no wonder they aren't considered classic superhero movies like other superhero movies have become!
Those Invisible Woman Scenes Were Really Something
- So there are some scenes where Invisible Woman (Jessica Alba) actually strips down. The filmmakers just made her do it for no reason - not even as part of the plot!
- It doesn’t really make sense - not for a superhero movie that's meant to be fun for the entire family. That's pretty messed up.
- They made some choices, back then, where the women characters just weren’t really that complex and had no real role!
Bad Scenes With Doctor Doom
- It looks like the villain Doctor Doom wasn't exactly the right fit for that movie. The bad guys that they created just felt so predictable.
- They also tried to make it so that the Fantastic Four could control their powers, but the scene wasn't so exciting and it didn't quite make sense, either.
How Does "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" Compare?
- There were a bunch of really silly, pointless things that happened, especially in the second movie, "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" with the way the Silver Surfer gave his backstory in that scene.
- They didn't do a great job showing what a great villain Doctor Doom was. And Galactus was even more bizarre. And in another scene - those super-fancy characters - actually save a giant Ferris wheel in London - something so odd! You've gotta wonder if it even mattered at all. The directors just decided to toss in some things to look visually cool without thinking if they made any sense!
- One big change they tried to make: They actually made the Human Torch absorb the powers of the rest of the team - even though there's no logical reason in that movie's whole timeline! The movie almost gave up with the storytelling at this point!
The Fantastic Four movies had a lot of problems, so people really weren't happy, so let's look on the positive side - now Marvel Cinematic Universe is gonna bring the Fantastic Four! That's going to be way different! Hopefully, the new movies are actually epic. The new ones will bring the Marvel First Family - you know, The Thing (Ben Grimm), Invisible Woman (Sue Storm), and even the awesome Human Torch - Chris Evans has aged very well!
You know what to do if you have some time - check those 2000s Movies to see how things have changed!
They weren't totally awful! You’ve got to remember how superhero Movies used to be and you've got to try them for yourself and see what those scenes were really like! I don't know if anyone wants to try it, though - since you’re probably so used to these super amazing movies, like everything Marvel puts out these days. That just goes to show you how far those movies have come!
Fantastic Four: First Steps has the opportunity to set the record straight. They can make the whole world understand how awesome the Marvel First Family is and we will even get some of the biggest characters in Marvel's story - the legendary Doctor Doom! It's really gonna be cool to see how these movies actually compare to what we saw from the past! I don’t know about you, but I am getting super hype for that!
