DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn offers comments on the casting for the forthcoming DC Universe TV show, Lanterns, in a new interview. While numerous DC Universe movies are under development, DC Studios is now hard at work on its TV schedule in association with Max. Among these is the Lanterns series, which will mostly feature Hal Jordan and John Stewart as the main heroes.
Recently the Lanterns TV show hired a DC Universe writing team. Online rumors recently surfaced that the Max drama would start shooting in England in Q1 of 2025. According to the story, DC Studios was looking for actors between 27 and 35 years old for John Stewart and for players in the 43–49 age range for Hal Jordan. The Lanterns' stories immediately drew Gunn's attention since Threads' admirers were contacting him.
Fans and critics have thoughts on what they wish to see even though it's not quite evident how the show's plot will develop. Some supporters have voiced dismay at the way prior movies presented the Green Lanterns. Many viewers disagreed with the most recent portrayal of Hal Jordan by Ryan Reynolds. "Less than perfect" is the most often used reaction. The future series of DC Universe will have a fresh chance to accurately show the heroes.

Time will tell who will play the key characters in Lanterns, but the Max TV program could be among the most original initiatives the franchise produces. True Detective greatly influences the DC Universe series; Lanterns will feature a big mystery. Gunn said Lanterns would feature an overall plot based on "an ancient horror" that will link several DC films and shows.
Lanterns will center on Hal and John's exploits on Earth, therefore allowing the Max series to have a more intimate narrative and be driven by characters. Though Lanterns is a sci-fi show, their apparent tone will help these specific Green Lanterns to have a more grounded attitude. John and Hal's dynamic has never been explored in live-action, hence DC Studios is doing the right thing by allowing them to have a weekly TV show that can correctly establish them both individually and together.
Gunn responded to BruceWayncs, "Casting has not begun, but it's going well," without specifying when they are actually beginning their casting process.
The Lanterns will also be created under very imaginative artistic direction. The choice is a major determinant of the success of the show even though the director is yet unknown. The Lanterns' showrunner has revealed that they are collaborating with quite brilliant someone.
Whether future seasons of Lanterns could transport Hal and John outside of Earth is yet uncertain. Though their vital positions in the DC Universe will see them enjoy a fair amount of interplanetary adventures in this continuity. As Lanterns approaches beginning production, hopefully actual Casting news on them will start to show out over the following few months.
