Though she makes a cameo appearance of sort, Charlize Theron might not be playing Furiosa in the prequel film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. Neither the montage at the movie's conclusion nor the cameo fit. Actually, this is a Mad Max: Fury Road recycled scenario.
The director of both films, George Miller, says that although the scene was shot for Fury Road, it was subsequently deleted. Furiosa is shown guiding Immortan Joe's wives to war rig safety. Miller used the setting for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, and although the scene is dark and difficult to view, brightening the image clarifies that Charlize Theron is in the scene.
Charlize Theron couldn't portray a younger version of Furiosa, even though some fans were hoping she would return as the character. Theron had aged and it was challenging to convincingly de-age her using CGI given the time between the two movies. Miller spoke candidly about the technological limits.
Anya Taylor-joy gave Charlize Theron her own taste, even though she did not resurfaced as Furiosa. Miller even combined Alyla Browne's (young Furiosa) facial traits with Taylor-Joy's using artificial intelligence to create a seamless change between the two actresses. Although Charlize Theron's absence from the part makes fans depressed, Taylor-Joy's performance was received well.
