Returning OG Star for Bad Boys 4 Gets Enthusiastic Tease After Life's Absence
Chris Bremner, the creator of Ride or Die, teases a returning original star following their absence in Bad Boys for Life. Directed once more by Adil & Bilall, with a script co-written by Bremner and Will Beall, the fourth installment in the series follows detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett who, following their late Captain Howard's accusations of corruption, flee and must operate outside the law to crack the case. Returning to headline Bad Boys: Ride or Die's ensemble, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence also feature a mix of new and returning performers in supporting parts.
Bremner excitedly hinted at the comeback of an original performer absent in Bad Boys for Life during an exclusive interview with Screen Rant. The co-writer says it made perfect sense to bring back past characters rather than developing new ones, including John Salley as Fletcher, as the fourth movie revisits an old case involving Captain Howard. Please find Bremner's whole comments below:
Fletcher's Bad Boys 4 Return Clarified
Salley played Fletcher, the thick glasses-wearing computer hacker, in the first two Bad Boys films. Mike and Marcus drag Fletcher out of prison in the first movie to access the police database profile of former dishonest cop Eddie Dominguez. Set eight years later, Fletcher is a technician with the Miami Police Department in the second movie; Mike and Marcus deliver shredded paper from a suspect's house which he uses a computer program to reassemble.
Salley returned as Fletcher in L.A.'s Finest, a spinoff of the Bad Boys franchise based on Marcus' sister, Sydney (Gabrielle Union), an ex-DEA agent moved to the LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division. Fletcher isn't with the Miami PD during Bad Boys for Life since the spinoff series takes place in Los Angeles. But because the spinoff series was shelved following two seasons, Fletcher appears to be free to make a comeback to Miami for Bad Boys: Ride or Die.
The cast of Bad Boys 4
Along with a few stars joining the film franchise, the Bad Boys 4 cast consists of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence returning in their roles.
The Bad Boys: Ride or Die ensemble will thrill fans of the series. The franchise is highly nostalgic for Smith and Lawrence because of their star power. This edition is probably going to appeal to fans, people who are inquisitive about the franchise, and even those who are casual moviegoers with the inclusion of fresh actors.
The Boys Return in Town
We have always enjoyed performing cameos. It was immediately like, "Well, of course, you're going to go back to all these people, because why not?" when the notion emerged that it was an old case and Captain Howard was compiling it. Why create novel characters? Too many persons for viewers to give a damn about. Returning to the best hits now is I wish we could have had a few couples we couldn't find or didn't get. But having John Salley was fantastic; it was fantastic to have some of these legendary performers.
Salley's comeback is a welcome addition to the series since his character was much adored by viewers in earlier runs. He will probably give the film more humorous touch and keep serving as Marcus and Mike's confidante.
Franchise for The Bad Boys
The fourth action-comedy film series starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence has as a tentative title Bad Boys 4. As they try to block the flow of illegal drugs in their city, hard-boiled Miami detectives Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett—who take on deadly drug kingpins and thwart risky schemes—take front stage in the series.
The next chapter in the well-liked action-comedy series is Ride or Die. The lead actors' comeback is probably going to attract both current and new franchise fans, therefore preserving the history of the brand.
Fletcher's Visit Backward
Salley played Fletcher, the thick glasses-wearing computer hacker, in the first two Bad Guys films.
Some find Fletcher's comeback interesting considering Salley's appeal goes beyond the Bad Boys series. Salley was an NBA player who won four championships with the Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls, and Los Angeles Lakers before becoming actor. Among only a handful Original Stars making a comeback in Bad Boys: Ride or Die alongside Smith, Lawrence, and Joe Pantoliano.
