The image was split to differentiate Metropolis's bright and joyful streets from Gotham City's misery. While @zack_attack_cosplay's Batman is outfitted in a nearly exact batsuit, Jake's focused posture and clenched fists suggest a Superman ready for anything.
Among Jim Lee's most sought-after bat-pics, a cosplay based on the image of Batman standing on a gargoyle overlooking Gotham City—as shown on the second printing cover of Batman #608—is among them; unfortunately, it did not acquire its Superman-oriented companion piece until over 20 years later.
