Why Wolverine's Yellow Suit Has a Tragic Backstory: A Deep Dive
What's the Big Deal About Wolverine's Yellow Suit?
You've probably seen Wolverine rockin' his iconic yellow and blue suit in the comics, but did you know the movie Deadpool & Wolverine changes everything about why he wears it? It's a pretty cool (and sad) twist!
The OG Wolverine Comic Suit
- Way back in the comics, Wolverine, AKA Logan, was saved from the crazy Weapon X project where he got his adamantium claws. He met the Hudsons from Department H, Canada's superhero squad. They decided he was pretty cool and put him in a shiny, eye-catching yellow and blue suit to make him look extra official! The Hudsons wanted him to stand out as a superhero!
- Logan tried on a bunch of different Wolverine superhero outfits over the years. He wore a super cool brown and tan version for a while, too, which fans still love! But that yellow and blue number remains the king!
Why Did Wolverine Change into a Yellow Costume?
- In Deadpool & Wolverine, it's completely different! This time, his Wolverine X-Men friends tell him he needs a more epic suit! They design it for him because they think it'll look really awesome, especially for a big strong guy like Logan. But then they all, unfortunately, pass away...and that's where things get emotional.
- Logan ends up wearing that bright Yellow Costume to remember all his fallen friends, making the suit super symbolic. It adds so much weight to the story!
- It's interesting that Wolverine becomes such a powerful hero even after all his sadness and struggles, thanks in part to this big Yellow Costume he dons.
- And don't forget that Ryan Reynolds does a perfect job referencing the fact that everyone's been waiting FOREVER to see Wolverine in a Yellow Costume in live action.
This is such a cool little change from the original comic. I'm super glad they went with this tragic yet touching storyline! It adds some awesome depth to Wolverine's whole deal!
