Fans were asking what will happen to Kang the Conqueror's part in the Multiverse Saga once Jonathan Majors was let go from Marvel Studios. Marvel Studios revealed a major surprise, though, during San Diego Comic-Con. Rather than substituting another actor for Kang, they are entirely changing direction and introducing Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. Why then the modification?
Actually, it makes a great deal of sense. Although Kang was a cool villain, he lacked the close ties to the MCU Thanos possessed. In the Infinity Saga, Thanos was the major evil, and he had past with several of the Avengers. Doctor Doom, though, offers a lot more. He has been a legendary Marvel villain for decades, first of all, and has many fascinating tales connected to him. Still, his direct relationship to Tony Stark remains the main factor. Imagine the emotional effect of witnessing the Avengers fight an enemy that resembles exactly the hero who gave his life to save the planet in Avengers: Endgame. That is a strong and sad turn of events that will heighten the drama of those major fights in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Although Doctor Doom is scheduled to feature in The Fantastic Four, he most likely will go toe-to--toe with more than just the First Family. The next stage of the MCU will feature this strong adversary, who will be a main actor likely to throw things off for our preferred heroes. Having Doctor Doom as the big evil for this last chapter is suitable and will have a long-lasting effect even if Avengers: Secret Wars is allegedly leading to a soft relaunch of the MCU. Marvel fans have an exciting period ahead of them and we can't wait to see how Downey Jr. realizes Doctor Doom.
You win! Although Avengers: Secret Wars is supposed to be a soft reboot, there will still be plenty of continuity from the last stages. The plot will revolve mostly on Doctor Doom, which will be connected to the events of the Infinity Saga especially with Tony Stark's death. Furthermore keep in mind that several of the films scheduled for release in the next few years are direct successors to previous MCU productions. Consider it therefore as a fresh chapter in the continuous narrative of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Prepare for a ton of fresh films and TV series! Deadpool and Wolverine, Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, The Fantastic Four, Blade, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and Avengers: Secret Wars are among the subjects we discuss. With fresh heroes and villains, the MCU is venturing into uncharted territory and promises plenty of fascinating shocks along the road.
Right now, he seems to be sticking to Doctor Doom. But Marvel here, therefore you never know what the future holds. Given their past surprises, perhaps we will see Downey Jr. in another capacity down-stream. Still, we're thrilled to see him become this legendary villain for now.
This film is supposed to be quite important. For the MCU, it's supposed to be a game-changer and will significantly affect the direction the franchise will take. Consider it as a large, benign reset button—not in a negative sense. Marvel has an opportunity to celebrate the past while yet beginning anew with fresh tales and fresh characters. So start bucking! That will be an amazing trip.
