The Transformers franchise, as those who are fans may recognize, has undergone various iterations. It began with the classic animated series in the 80s, then branched out into a line of Transformers toys. Since those early days, the series made its debut as a series of live-action Movies , and even expanded with an animated film.

In many ways, those fans have a wide assortment of experiences from watching the Transformers animated series , enjoying those toys or, perhaps, watching Transformers sequels - but an R-rated release is considered by many to be an unnecessary risk, given its history as a popular franchise aimed at those of all ages - even young children.

Transformers - especially in its live-action version has a massive amount of commercial success, given the release of the first movie, it sparked an enormous amount of Transformers box office revenue. That momentum would continue throughout several releases, bringing in several billion dollars from the box office - proving to be an immensely popular series - but it is often debated if its Transformers critical success matched the audience enthusiasm.
